launch vs. rolling start

does anybody have any idea what the difference in times you would see from launching the EVO and doing more of a rolling start. Not a slow rolling start, but definately not a launch.

Launch 0-60mph 4.6 to 5.0 sec : 1/4mile 13.2 to 13.6 sec
Roll start 0-60mph 6.5 to 6.7 sec : 1/4mile 14.2 to 14.8 sec

If your car is stock that is....

Just because you're from a "roll" doesn't mean you can't disengage the clutch momentarily and bring up the RPM to launch that son of a b****. That's how I "launch" from a roll at street races.

Huh, never thought about that approach. Interesting.

I just prefer the ol' high RPM slip-launch, then imagining the look on the other guys face after i just holeshoted him by a full car. Of course, then I try to cram 2nd and completely bone it and end up losing anyways...

Just like any launches, don't "dump" the clutch when you let it back out... It's all about being smooth, and getting power to the ground.

hehe...i had a 91 mazda that was a huge POS and i'd dump the clutch at 4-5k cuz i hated the old POS but i loved the manual tranny it had...now i got this auto Lancer and i miss the manual

of course...the truck was a 91 mazda b2200...and RWD...2.2litre 2barrel carb engine...pumpin 125hp...prolly only 75hp to the wheels after all the aging and the fact its RWD...oh well lol..it was fun while it lasted...truck broke...wonder why...it would just die on me no matter what...cruisin along at 45 mph down the road and it just dies...sometimes if i slammed on the clutch than the gas it'd 'come back to life' other times it'd just die...it would sputter once or twice and die...the last time it died...i was doin about 15 mph clutch all the way in..rollin to a stop and it died...my dad thought it was 'fuel related' so he replaced fuel lines and fuel filter to no avail...my mother thought it was the timing belt....we never changed it...i thought it was a POS that was gonna get me killed within 2 weeks if we got it running again..so i bought my Lancer....k im done and brought this post back to the top cuz i was hella bored and thought u all would like to see a 'launching' post =) CHEERS!
