Iv owned the HJC, Zamp(European Bell), Arai GP5 and now the GP6. In terms of quality I would vote for the ARAI in comparison to my other helmets. I do quite a but of Karting/Track and year round. I found the Zamp tends to let go in about year of good abuse. The rubber/ inserts tend to wear down and the helmet needs some TLC. They are however good helmets for a low price point. The Zamp Tinted/anti fog Visors are fairly weak against oils/residue so be careful. These shields cost around 110$ a piece and iv destroyed a few racing in the rain in open wheel cars. The Tint tends to develpp pitting. The HJC was a trooper however similar to my Zamp wore down quite a bit. It felt as if the inserts had shrunk after a bit and the fitment became loose. My previous and current arais are not only lighter but i really like the positive fitment they have. They tend to sit snug even without the PED kits in open wheel cars. The best way is to go to a race shop and actually stick some of these lids on your head. The quality is one thing but the fitment and feel of the helmet should be your primary concern. The SA rated helmets never really breath as well as purpose designed motocycle hemet. The Nomex materials always make me feel like its significantly higher. However unlike the M rating the SA ratings in addition to being fire rated allow for multiple impact protection similar to what occurs during a car accident. The M rated helmets are designed to sistain a single heavy blow.

Think about the future and get a hans receiver helmet.
I'm convinced it comes soon to the club racing too soon. I love Peltor and Sparco helmets. They are not so expensive and very comfy

Most common SA rated helmets come pre drilled for a hans. All you would need to do is install the anchors and purchase the proper hans device. When choosing a helmet for closed cockpit cars consider the Wider one with a wider port aswell.

I use it for go-karting and occasional track use. Very happy with it. I had mine customized a bit

neato helmets,
always try on a helmet before you buy, there are people who have weird shaped noggins, it's like buying a good running shoe, it's not all the same

I have the HJC AR10 II and absolutely love it. It fits really well, breathes well, and looks badass for the money.

I have the zamp ferrari licensed helmet and like it a lot. unfortunately, the license cost a fortune hence it was phased out but it has the attachment for hans device and fire retardant certified. so, yeah zamp is a very good brand. they have a full cf lightweight helmet to those who have a heavy big head

I have the HJC si12. I really like it alot. Has a big eyeport, which is important for me since I wear glasses. Very light (lighter than some full carbon helmets) and pretty affordable as well.
