Driving Tips
Hey guys I was wondering how I could improve my driving skills, because I got timed in the quartermile at 17.3... That was my best time... Reading some other times of the other subscibers to these forums... I saw there times to be about 16.9ish... how could I lower my time by improving my driving techniques?.. BTW... I Drive Manual.
This would be better in the driving techniques forum. But Viciouz, you should come to some of our So Cal Lancer Club meets. We often discuss and demonstrate driving and modding techniques. There's a few of us that can talk to you and show you how to launch in a manual. But as for your time, what mods were you running, because that's a respectable time for a Lancer.

You should list your mods. For stock this could be about right.
As well, it could be how you are launching the car. Lowering the PSI of your wheels could also help.

The trick with lowering tire pressure on street tires is that they're not really meant to be run semi flat. I would recommend about 20-25 psi, although performance tires have stiffer sidewalls that might resist such help. If you get a street legal drag slick, they will wrinkle for traction like you want (of course, that means they don't corner worth a crap) and you can run 15-25 psi in those.
people dont understand that often it has so much to with variables. weather, temp, track temp, tire heat, wind, tire psi, launch, shift points, fuel load, ect. dont lose sleep over it. your car will run better in cool than in some muggy *** air you are breathin in off of the guys next to you while you wait. it is hard to keep it consistant with all these variables especially when you are timing to not just tenths but hundredths. did you get a 60' time. that is a start right there. run again, not neccesarily trying to get your overall time lower, but trying to get your 60' time lower, that in turn will make you run faster. good luck
