When I had my Dakota, I had a shift kit put in it to firm up the shifts and it also allowed me to manually shift it easier. I don't think there is shift kit for the auto Lancers yet and I doubt there ever will be.

Technically what auto drivers use is a 'torque converter' that makes the tranny much more aggressive. Unfortunately, transmission modifications are even beyond STS class, so thats no good if you want to be competitive in an autocross class. As for hyperground, hyperground wires, circle earth, earthing or grounding kits improve electrical flow to your engine, making it more efficient and boosting horsepower & torque. Get 'em from Sun Automotive, HKS or Ralli||Art, should run $100-150. Mine are still on order, so I can't speak for their benefits yet, but people swear by them

Nothing to worry about in autocross anyway, just put it in 2 and drive. Very rarely will you want to get out of 2nd on an autocross course anyway.

the auto in the lancer, doesnt have a shift kit, even though it is the same as the mirage and 2.4L eclipse. the F4A42 tranny is not really supported much in the after market.

upgrading a torque converter is impossible for people to tell unless they pull your tranny off. i doubt they would do that unless you become super dominant in your region

Yep, most autos you can start it in 1, then click it forward into 2 when you're ready, then 3, then 4 or "overdrive" as they sometimes call it. Good drag racing technique if you know your shift points better than the ecu.

99.9% of the time, you want to autocross in 2 the whole time, whether in an auto or manual. I take off in 1st and shift into 2nd after the first corner, then leave it there until I cross the finish line. If the course gets over 60 mph then you might have to use 3rd, but don't ever manually shift down for racing, it will cost you a transmission (My Trans Am is proof of that!)

you'll likely blow your hydralic pump or hydralic components on your poor auto... unless it's sequential shifter.

One of my friends blew up a Chevy 700R4 by manually shifting it. He had some kind of shift kit in it to firm up the shifts, and he'd run it to redline, then bump the shifter in to the next gear. Slowing down, he'd let the rpms come down a bit, then drop it into the next gear down.

I have several pictures of the chunks of gears that we pulled out of the housing.

ok...from what ive collected its perfectly ok to up****, no problem. Its the downshift that will get us?

From a stop we can go from 1 up to drive through the gears?

I heard that If im racing and launch in 3rd, it takes overdrive off and we will be a bit faster is that tru?
