FWD launch RPM?
OK, we have the big dump/slip debate, but I have a different question. I have the OZ and am trying to nail down a good launch RPM. What does everyone think?
For me, it's high 2ks. Anything above 3k gets wheel spin, and low 2ks just isn't very fast.

When I use to have a honda I like to launch around 2000-2500, very lil wheel spin. I guess it depends on your car and what mods you have. About the dump/slip debate I always dump my clutch but now that I have the Evo its a different story. But then again its all on what your car is capable of.
When I was at California Speedway last Summer, about 3500 seemed to get the bast launch on that crappy surface. You have to take into account a few things though:
1, I had Azenis tires (sticky, but not drag radials)
2, I had stiffer suspension.
3, I did not have LSD.
4, My car is pushing about 110 hp at the wheels.
5, I didn't just dump the clutch. A more controlled launch got me off the line quickest.
Either way, I voted for 3000-3500

i hold the rpm's at 2500-2600. ive been tryin to slip the clutch a little more than spinning the tires lateley. but you really have to practice A LOT to get a nice controlled launch. i usually get nice 2.2 60' times when i spin the tires as little as possible.
Don't slip above 4500 RPM. YOu'll burn your clutch no matter what on Stock Cluch.
I think you could drop it, but I haven't ***** to try it on stock clutch.
I slip at 3500 RPM. Seem to be fine, and no burn.
I slipped at 6500 RPM. Man, I still smell the damn thing.
But you have an OZ.
You could drop that thing at 6000RPM if you want. It's all good on FWD. I use to do that with my prelude all the time without burning nothing.

I'm not worried about safety and clutch life, I mean for the best traction and takeoff. I don't want to spin the wheels, I want to go. Just trying to pin down the best method.

Around 3,000 RPM, give or take a few hundred RPMs, depending upon your level of modifications of course.
Oh, and slip the clutch rather than dumping it. Bad for your clutch but good for your axles.
Too little and you'll bog. Too much and you'll spin.

That's right around where the stock clutch and motor work well together.
Of course, you could do a 5,000 RPM launch and feather the clutch, but that's likely to toast your clutch if you drag frequently.

alright, i now realize that tires make a HUGE difference on what you want to launch at. i just got a set of azenis sports and jesus!! i have to TOTALLY relearn how to launch. before, with my nittos, i couldnt go above 2500 without spinnin the tires too much. i tried this the other day with the falkens and all i would do was bog off the line. i eventually launched at 4500 and still didnt spin the tires! ive noticed that you want a decent amount of wheelspin for a good launch, but with stickier tires youre gonna have to take off much more aggressively. i believe my clutch is going out as well, but i was able to gather enough info from the launches that i had to realize this fact. it just sucks now cause i have to totally learn how to launch again.
i was wonderin the same because i practice it alot and i usually launch at beginning of redline but i let off the clutch slower then sometimes i just rev up a couple times jus to get the engine goin and I jus smash the accelerator and let off clutch not sure where that rpm is prolly around 4
