Dyno Tuning with Dyno Flash - case study #3 - Makaveli_31
Member Makaveli_31 came back to us today wanting to get a custom tuned Dyno Flash - he had previously had the mail in Dyno Flash - gotten a custom tuned Dyno Flash - changed some parts and had tried out another flash - which actually turned out to be very good
Here is his first of several - numerous base runs we did after spinning the car on the dyno to center it on the rollers.
We did a few base line runs becuase I accidentally disconnected the battery and wanted to see if knock activity would start after several pulls. (To make a fair comparision at the end of the tunning we also subjected the Dyno Flash to a three pull back to back series of pulls - more later). A curious point on this base line - we did not see much knock - depsite the super lean a/f ratios which I found rather suprizing.

Another base line - smooth - but IMHO - just way too lean for pump gas
I was actually surpized to see not much knock going on - not a bad tune at all considering the a/f targets

Last base run - things hanging in well - nothing bad going down, a/f ratios are moving about a bit and not as repeatable on the multiple runs as I would like to see but otherwise its a very nice tuning job.

First Dyno Flash tuned pull - - looking much richer - but we need to scratch our heads a bit to find the missing power in the upcomming pulls
Basically I see things are still too lean in the low rpms and high rpms - but ideal in the middle
Lets try again

Working well. Its nice to always find the stock ecu responding as we adjust - in the same way we adjust it. The stock ecu is a very powerful and stable ecu - I love it.
We are nearing the end here - some more adjustments to be made

Seeing that run 10 is near ideal and feeling and hearing the sound I wanted to hear, I ask the dyno operator to conduct the famous Dyno Flash "Dyno Torture Test" - 3 runs back to back one after the other without turing off the car
You can see several points
1 - The a/f stays repeatable and consistant
2 - The Powerband stays smooth as silk
3 - It makes more power on the 3rd pull - (nice
)
Basically this is a done deal - it sounds perfect and not a hint of knock - stable and smooth
