Tuning with Dyno Flash - case study # 8 - Member Number13

Here is yet another Dyno Flash case study review for the benefit of the potential customers out there to see how we tune and why we tune the way we do

Here is a more stock like car for a change with only a few mods

Stock air box
down pipe and cat back - stock cat
Hallman Pro MBC
Walbro fuel pump

Here is his base line run - nothing unusual

Here is his first run with a base calibration - too rich in the middle

we need more smoothness in the a/f curve

We are getting some knock - time to further adjust the a/f curve while now making some ign timing corrections

Here we are starting to make decent power on this car with the limited mods it has. The a/f is slightly too lean for our tastes however as we find that with the a/f in this zone over time the car will start to get knock activity and pull timing

We rather err on the safer and smoother side

Went a tad too rich - almost done - but its dropping down a touch on top - I feel like I have this car almost dialed in 100%

Here is the final sheet - nice tq numbers - a totally smooth power band and man this car was lazer smooth on the road.

We did one pass after this one on the dyno to confirm that the settings held 100% and the road test confirmed that the car was perfectly tuned

I know he had a HKS dp. It really matters NOT which particular exhuast he had b/c usuing the stock cat with its highly restrictive neck down to a smaller diameter really bottle necks the exhuast flow.

I strongly recomend the 3" high flow cat that we sell for $149. I have made 430 whp on pump gas with that unit.

I like these case studies, can you lay the original over the final tune in a graph for these posts.....it would really close the case =)

gmazzu -

HKS downpipe (doesn't hit anything - no brace spacers) and B&B catback - got it used from Eric L - cheap and quiet - i will probably get the hi flow cat eventually - just not enough time and money these days - feels like an electric motor now - smooth ramp of power - nice!
