Question about intakes you have dynoed...

Ok, im trying to pick out an intake before i send my ECU to you for a flash. I would like to know if you have any experience with the Injen? also, is the HKS rs intake producing more power due to the filter design, or the hardpipe that it comes with? if you had to choose between a regular HKS mega flow intake and a fuel pump OR just a RS intake, which would you choose?

Basically, i can afford to get the fuel pump and mega flow intake, but can't afford the fuel pump and the RS. Help please!

I think the megaflow and the HKS RS are the same thing basically. I say get the little bit of extra money and get the fuel pump and HKS RS. I did and I couldn't be happier, I am getting custom tuned by Turbotrix on satuday

someone explain to me the need for the fuel pump. most everyone is pulling massive amounts of fuel out on tunes right? so, whats the need for a bigger pump if you aren't planning to run 27psi or anything?

If you don't have a fuel pump you can maz out the stock one, and put unnessecary strain on your injectors. Especially in a hot climate, like GA. Al can really take advantage of your tune if you have the Fuel Pump; it's highly recommended.

As for the intake, I would suggest you get the Buschur Racing intake filter (without the MAS pipe - $80) and the Walbro 255 ( - $90). I had that for my very first tune and Al reccomends it highly. The HKS is no good without the full kit from what I understand, due to the flow their intake pipe creates; plus some other negatives (has very poor filtering).

But, if you have the money, getting the full HKS and a fuel pump would be just as good, even a tad better, but costs a lot more.

Hope that helps!

I think you'll have some real nice gains from that set up! But, better than the HP gains, the car will feel night-and-day better to drive!!

Best of luck!! If you ever have any questions feel free to PM me.

The reason for the fuel pump upgrade recomendation is b/c the stock units sometimes fail (we have seen it at least a dozen times). In most cases the stok unit is sufficent up to about 350 whp. However at $90 usual retail the walbro is cheap insurance. Most people dont drive about with wideband 02 sesnors monitoringt for when the stock pump starts to fail. The problem is that they fail by starting to run lower pressure which makes the ar run leaner. Dangerous condition to say the least.
