Al specific Drag Racing question?

When you drag race you typically use C116. This is leaded fuel correct? Have you ever thought about using Toluene (114 octane) or Xylene (117 octane) instead?
Or in the alternative what are your experiences with Toluene and/or Xylene?

Why run lower octane gas than you can get just as easily, if not easier? You can't run straight Xylene or Toluene like you can with C16. A gasoline / Toluene or Xylene mixture would still have a lower octane than C16.

How is it? VP claims 5% more power. I jsut talked to the local dist. about it last week, he has not sold any so was unsureof how it was. Do you need to change the tune with it, seems like the SG on it was higher then 112 or 16.

They pump in extra stuff - it does make about 5% more power

Undoubtedly C16 has a higher octane than a mix of toluene/xylene. What I was getting at was the advantages/disadvantages of using leaded v/s unleaded fuel

Al, how much does the VP Import gas normally cost per gallon? Is it leaded also?
