STI sponsorship opportunity
NOTE - I am posting this here as it was deleted from the Suabru boards as I an not a vendor on those sites -
In the aftermath of the Evo vs. WRX and STI shotout on September 11, 2004 I made a promise that next year I would be back to get some very fast track times on the new STI
I intend to follow through on that promise and I have been working the past 6 weeks to outline a plan to have a mega fast STI ready by next April
As many of you may know back in '02 I worked many months to create what was at the time the first JDM 2.0 STI motor swap into a US WRX with full 6 speed conversion. My car ultimately went a best time of 11.88 @ 124 winning the 1st annual WRX Shootout.
I've been having great success with my Evo and gotten a few magzine articles this year and won some races - BUT - I think I have taken the Evo about as far as it can go speed wise while still keeping it as a bona fide street running vehicle. I was frankly amazed at the HUGE Subaru turn out at the shootout and at the same time dissapointed with the times from the new STI's. I think thyere is more to be had.
I have made a decision to go back to my Subaru roots and immerse myself into the US STI - in addition to my Evo tuning duties.
Frankly, I think the STI has a lot more potential than is being shown and I want to apply my hard earned STI experience to the new US STI and set some track records.
I am offering ONE lucky guy with a STI who likes to go occassional drag racing a unqiue sponsorship opportunity.
This is what I am willing to offer:
You will recieve the ultimate, daily driver, streetable USA STI that can be obtained - including
FREE tuning, dyno time and parts installs to complete the project and free maintenance and repair through the term of the sponsorship
ALL parts at whoesale cost - in some cases a huge discount
MANY parts for free from OUR sponsors who may elect to participate in the project
What I am looking for is the follwing :
A enthusiastic and dedicated Subaru owner
Owns a USA version STI with mimimal modifications
Prepared to be without car on occassion for several days during installs and or tuning
Willing to make a commitment to attend several drag racing events next year at local tri-state drag racing tracks - eg ATCO and Englishtown
Willing to have car appear in magazines
Willing to run www.DynoFlash.com decals on car
Those who are interested - DO NOT post on this thread - Rather - please submit a detailed email to info@dynoflash.com stating why you feel you are a good candidate for this program and a little bit about your car and racng experince - if any
Thanks

Al post this on www.sqc-ny.com boards
Al I want to wish you the best of luck. Taming the subie crowd haters will prove to be a significant challenge given your past history with them. I would say let your customers and dyno sheets do the talking for you.
Sadly the USDM sti motor UNLIKE it's 2.0 JDM conterpart leaves alot to be desired in regards to potential power > small port WRX type heads with mild cams and reliability > weak cast piston design. The one good thing about this motor is it's displacement and the usable torque it provides while driving on the street. Your belief in conservative tuning ( rich A/F ) will serve you well with this motor.
You were a mentor to me in the past with your WRX hybrid experience. I have since followed in your footsteps and am in the process of doing a JDM RA motor and 6 speed swap myself. I have choosen to go with the HKS Fcon V pro as engine management and hope to have Dan @ Pruven do the tuning for me.
Take care, Tom.

I strongly believe that my extensive personal experience with Subaru tuning from the 1st day the car was released in the US will aide greatly in my ability to achive some good results.
BTW - the F-con is a fantastic product and really works great on the Subaru

Didn't know when you would see this. Anyways...good luck. Talk to ya when you get back. If I can get out of work a little early...and you're back...wanna head down to AMS? AL wants to check my car out and make sure everything is running good still.

Al, I have been a huge supporter of you and now you are taking this path. when you first came on here at evolutionm.net, all is you was take crap about the wrx and now your are reverting back. i understand you constant need for a challenge and there is no doubt in my mind that you will far surpass they current STI's. it just hurts that you are leaving us
