Case study # 18 - Another MR with Flash and MBC 315 ft lbs !

Here is another one of our customers in today with a MR

Amazingly - we had 3 MR's in the shop today !!!!!!!! I love MR's

This one just got the MBC and Walbro fuel pump

This is member Twan - a super nice guy

I was amazed to see 315 ft lbs on 1.5 bars peak boost falling to 1.3 bars

This customer had already upgraded his bov and it was leaking slightly

Big power to be found on the new MR turbo. There is a lot of potential in this new car. We would never have seen even 300 ft lbs on similar mods with the old turbo style.

Here is his car with the stock flash and parts vs. our flash and mbc and pump

Al,

Is this the same turbo except the 10.5 housing? Or are their differences in the compressor side.

Good work. The mental wheels are turning whether to jettison the '03. This MR seems well worth it if you are gonna flash the ECU and some bolt-ons and do not want to do a turbo upgrade.

Damm . We should have got this turbo to begin with.

what is the difference between the MR turbo and the regular evo? Is it just the 10.5 cm turbine housing?

Compressor housing is slightly different (different part number from '03s). Don't know how it is aActually different though.

He said 1.5 Bar dropping to 1.3 Bar which is like 21.5 dropping to like 18.5 I think.

The baseline was with the JDM BOV only. The final tune was with the JDM BOV, Hallman Pro MBC, Walb Fuel Pump and K&N drop in. Super happy with the tune, the car drives so smooth and pulls all the way to redline now. And if you think about it, thats little to no mods.......still running stock exhaust!

This was on 93 octane with boost hitting about 21 and settling to 19. I will know more acurately when I get those crap sportsmeter gauges outta there and the Defi's in.

Thanks for all your help AL, it seems like only yesterday we were BS'ing at the 1st Dynoflash day way back at Pruven. Good work on getting the 05 flashes ready. I appreciate your work today more then I could have told ya in person, so again thanks man!

Al, I see that you are having people upgrade to the 255 fuel pump. Do you need to run the 255 or would the 190 walboro pump be sufficent? I only ask because with my last car (1997 Turbo Eclipse) I had a 255 fuel pump and my car was always running horribly rich. I had to get a an FPR and all the crap that goes with that, and I don't want to have to do all of that stuff again. Do they even offer a 190 for EVOS? Is 255 fine and the GSX was a different set up?

Sorry for jacking the thread, but all of these MR flash stories are making my flash decision a no-brainer!!!

On the evo - with proper flashing - changing to the walbro pump will not give you rich a/f's

We use the walbro pump b/c the stock fuel pump is not stable at higher boost and injector duty cycle levels which put more stress on fuel supply. The walbro pump performs in a much more consistant manner.

Basically, we put the walrbo into every car that comes in our door unless the customer is a on a serious budget. Think about it a $35,000 MR and a $90 fuel pump - cheap insurance

And I will need that pump after I do a few more rounds of substantial mods.
It would be silly to have to go into the tank more then once. Just drop in the 255 and be done with it from the get go. Thats my feeling.
