Thumbs up Just Got DynoFlashed!!

I really wanted to take this moment and give Al some serious props, I just got my flash back today from him, installed it, and there is no way in the world I could be happier about the performance from my vehicle! Fantastic job, sorry if I seemed irritated with you (I wasn't, just with FedEx and the holidays). I am sure there are a lot of other good tuners out there but I am sticking with what works, rest assured you have my business for life. Now if someone can just help me figure out why my car is popping/backfiring when I let off the throttle this car will be perfect. Thanks again Al and I'll look forward to seeing you in January!

P.S. I got Dyno time next week, I'll post the results ASAP.

I have the BR Stage 1 with the cat delete, Walbro 255lph, running 21psi (spiking to 22-22.5) on 96 octane. Thanks for the input on the popping, I don't know that it is backfiring, maybe just popping and it might be because I just dropped the back pressure with the installation of the 3" turbo-back. I wonder if it might be the plugs, I thought I saw that in a thread somewhere, any ideas? Anyone?

well i just recently had the popping under WOT accerleration. that is not normal, and the first thing you would do in that case is check the plugs. I had Denso Iridium IW24's in the car for 16K miles (at 13$/plug) and now under the direction of Al I just put the cheapo copper NGK BR7ES plugs in, and I logged a great timing curve with my data logger. after the installation there was no more popping under acceleration. Under deceleration this is very common, especially with no cat. There is some unburned fuel that will get ignited and travel down the exhaust path causing the poppind sound that you are hearing and or a nice big flame that shoots out.

I am in phoenix also and I am planning to get a reflash. Where are you getting 96 octane from and what type of difference did the flash make, performance wise. When and where will you be dynoing the car. I would like to hear about the results.

If you have poping on decel - check carefullt for exhuast leaks - did you use high temp gasket sealer on the 02 housing to dp joint ? It is very easy to get some leaks there

Jr, I get Trick 101 from a Mobil station on Chandler Blvd & 40th st (Ahwatukee, I know the drive sucks, thats why I take a few cans ) and I mix it 50-50 with pump 91. If you want bulk, I just found a good supplier out of Casa Grande that will deliver 54Gal drums of VP107 unleaded for $315 including the drum, next day. The flash made a huge difference and I couldn't be happier, the power band feels much smoother and low-end torque is way up. If you are thinking about it, stop, and just get it, you will very happy you did.

Al, thanks for the info, I didn't use a sealer, I was following the BR instructions religiously and there was no mention of that, I will pull the DP and put some on though, fortunately it is sporadic. Again... huge thanks for the great work I really wish I had your skill (and your job, buy hey... mine lets me buy your stuff ) and again sorry if I may have been a little coarse, just that time of the year.

Super huge thanks for the info, I am sure that has a lot to do with it.

Before you start taking off the dp - first jack it up when the car is cold and then quickly start it and move your hand around the exhuast and look for the leaks - IF ANY.

No sweat about the stress when your ecu was delayed - I DO NOT recomend USPS for shipment of ecu's they are too late too often !

BTW - so your car is working better now with the flash than with the SAFC eh >?

Will do that later tonight, if that isn't it do I have an issue or this just what i get with exhaust I have? I get the same thing sometimes with my Yukon after putting in a new exhaust and the dealer said it was because I lowered my back pressure?!?! Does he know WTF he is talking about? About the ECU; yeah, USPS sucks and to top it off FedEX actually lost my package for 1 day, I couldn't believe they actually admitted to it, but as soon as they found it they same day shipped it to me (thats good service). And in response to the flash working better than the SAFC? F**** yes it does!! I seriously recommend to anyone if you have to get one or the other don't even waste your money on the SAFC, just get it Dyno Flashed (I know David Buschur even said they were looking at switching to flashes as the default instead of the SAFC)!

One quick question Al, I know you remove the high boost cut, but is there any rev limiter? I have nightmares of my wife throwing a rod through that thing, even though I never let her drive it, hahaha.
