Al, Question

No response to my other thread. I've calculated what I want and need for the car, and without the turbo kit and without the EMS it'll cost me 4500 to get what I need, to be safe and efficient. I just got an XS-Engineering Intercooler for 490 shipped, that eliminates one things. Add the turbo kit and Im at roughly 8000 bucks, and all the while I'll be dynoflashing until I am ready for the EMS. The point is, what are the limitations on reliability and capability on the stock ECU. Im sure its been covered hundreds of times, so if you could just point me in the right direction.

Which other thread?

The stock ecu has been used on a car who has a GT35R as a dialy driver which made 530 whp - and still drove like stock.

For race cars you want the AEM.

I didn't see this pop up, Al. I'd really like to run the EMS just for the sake of having that tuneability.

I got my XS-ENgineering I/C, it looks great. Couple of dings and dents normal to intercoolers, and some bad paint on one end tank. I can live with that for 490 bucks!

Anyways, I'd prefer to run the EMS, but for the time being, to save cash, I'll come up and get it flashed, which brings me to my other question, you can tune AEM's unit also? I know y ou have one in your race car, just making sure. Thanks Big Al. Maybe I'll see you at E-Town in a few weeks/months...whatever the case.

Cams aren't exactly a wear item, so they shouldn't wear out or anything. As long as the cams were properly installed and haven't been dropped or damaged they'll work fine. BTW, I got the 264/264 combo, at Al's suggestion, and couldn't be happier. Idle is almost like stock (w/ a slight lope), no stalling or dips in RPM, and the torque/HP increase is excellent.

Feldguy, Al definately tunes the AEM. The price is a bit different, but from what I've heard he does a very good job.
