Custom Flash question

Al, when customers drive to Pruven for a custom flash, do you do any part throttle tuning?

Does part throttle tuning affect WOT tuning at all on an Evo?

On my Camaro, with the stock ECU the part throttle fuel trims actually can impact open loop WOT fueling. I think part of this design is to protect the engine in the event of a mechanical issue. If it detects a particularly large positive correction factor at part throttle operation (i.e., car is adding fuel to stay at 14.7:1) then it adds fuel to the normal WOT fuel curve for any WOT that happens immediately after the car has been in a cell where there was a large positive correction factor.

So, the tuning approach with the GM ECU is to get the part throttle dialed in so the fuel trims are near zero correction (which requires a lot of work once you start swapping injectors and cam profiles) and then do the WOT tuning afterward. If you tune WOT before doing the part throttle tuning, then you create a situation where the WOT tuning is unreliable.

Just wondering if the Evo ECU works the same way and how you approach this with custom tunes.

Thanks.

I do not discuss these kind of questions on the public forums for obvious reasons.
