Issues:

I bought the kit three weeks ago and had a local shop install and plumb it into the stock intercooler pipe. Went to Dallas this past weekend to have it custom tuned by Vishnu with both a regular pump gas map and then pump plus alky map. The pump gas tune was great, 325HP, 300TQ. When they switched the alky on it started leaking out of the place where the nozzle was tapped into the IC pipe. Obviously they were unable to tune and I was extremely pissed off since I had driven 300 miles to get this tune. The shop that did the install is dragging it's feet about fixing it and I'm looking into finding someone else to clean up the mess. I'd really like to find out what this thing can do, but am not mechanically inclined enough to fix it myself. I guess that's how it goes.........

If I ever get it working and tuned, I'll let you know. As for now, it was a 500 dollar expense that I could have done without.

wow that sucks. but the kit is no the prob in that case..
you prob just need some sort of teflon tape over the fitting or something. was it leaking from the spay nozzle? or where it attaches to the fitting?

I realize that the kit was not the problem, just the way that it was installed. I'm just frustrated that I spent a bunch of money for the kit, head studs, installation, long trip, time off from work tuning expense..... and then didn't even get to use the damn thing. I'm whining, I know......... Sorry

Any mechanics in the San Antonio area interested in helping a member out and making some money too? I'd really like to get this thing working. Anyone interested, please drop me a line.

Thanks,

Tony

Installed mine about 2 weeks ago and had Al tune it last Saturday. I have it starting around 15psi and maxing at 25 psi, if I push it there. Theory here is you aren't full bore spraying for very long. Definitly feels better in the higher RPM ranges and when fuul boost hits you better hold on!! I will say that 1st gear is very short now!! Hit the gas and you better be shifting.

If your nozzle is leaking pull your IC pipe and checking the fitting on top and bottom. There should be a washer on the inside and outside, to help seal. If there is a gap, use some RTV or JB weld to seal the fitting.

BTW - Al's tuning of this kit is awesome, no worries running 24 psi daily.

Well, I had asked Al about installation and tuning but understandably he told me that he was uncomfortable tuning the XEDE piggyback since he was unfamiliar with it. Seems like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Once I get the kit working correctly, I then have to find someone who is willing and competent to tune it. Thanks for all the good advice though, I really appreciate it.....

I am kind of surprized why no one at the dyno day or shiv hinmself could not have resolved your leak. The fittings on the fmic pipe to alcohol nozzel are all brass fittings you can get at any home depot in many locations all over the usa. They are made of cheapo brass plumbing fittings. It would not have taken more than a few minutes to pull off the fmic pipe and fix it for any one with any mechanical inclination. Sorry to hear your tale.

Unfortunately the cars were backed up at the dyno. The saturday session had to be cut short because the facility had to close early so a few of the cars had to be started on Sunday morning early. My appointment was bumped back and hour and a half later and there were still 7 cars to go after me. I also wish that it could have been resolved at the time, but again, unfortunately it wasn't. It's times like this when I curse myself for not being more mechanically inclined. I'm at the mercy of the local mechanics who work on imports and have not had much luck with them.

My first goal is to just get either the stock pipe plumbed correctly or to buy a hard pipe and start over so that I can get the nozzle closer to the throttle body before I try to get it tuned. Al, you said you got an XEDE to play with, maybe you can finally figure out the software if you're so inclined now......

This is why I do not book these kind of hog stampeed dyno days anymore. I used to do them but its not engough time to do a proper job. Now I book them 2 hours apart - less jobs in one day but enough time to resolve any simple matters that come before me.

Again, sorry you had frustration. if I get down to Texas this summer I will make it a point to personally tune your car.

Al,

thanks for the offer. If you're ever in Texas, please let me know as I would definitely take you up on your offer. If I don't hear back from the shop that did the install soon I'm just going to figure out what tools I'll need and try to do the fix on my own. I guess that sooner or later I'm going to have to learn how to do more than minor maintenance on my own.

tcarretti,
If you would like I can try to pull my Upper IC pipe this weekend and take a couple pictures of how I installed mine. They are very similiar to the pics Al posted in the install thread. Either that or send me a couple pics of how your nozzle is installed and I can try to talk you through the install / fix.

If you don't trust the mechanics then don't go back. Heck I will even send you my old stock IC pipe if you want to change your nozzle placement.

Just curious but how long was the installment and was it straight forward? Are you from Appleton, WI?
