Just wondering if the stock ECU could pull enough timing to save the day.

Do you make the alky tunes more or less aggressive depending on the customer's needs? If a customer wanted to make extra sure that the tune would be safe without the alky, how much could be gained? 15 whp? 20 whp? It'd still be worth the $500 cost even for only a 20 whp gain.
Good question

It is NOT agood idea to test this occurence - kind of like testing a bullet proof vest by shooting yourself

The timing is the SAME as regular pump gas timing - we did not find any significant gains my increasing timing

All of the gains come from the intercooling effect of the alcohol and the increased boost

IF the alcohl runs out or fails under full bost the car will fun mid to high 12 / 1 a/f and prob knock and pull timing. Keep in mind that many tuners tune for mid 12 a/f ratuio - (hard to believe - I know).

In most cases you will prob get away for a short period of time with the failing of the alcohol if you catch it in a reasonable time frame

However, if you keep going on full boost with the failed alcohol kit it is very possible that you may damage a piston

Alcohol injection is not for everyone - BUT - it is a nice mod if you are willing to keep and eye on it and make sure its working

No problem

Just rememer you get what you pay for

My kit has been very well developed and specifically designed for evos and works very well and the whole thing is pre-assembled in a brand new sprayer bottle

IDF you buy a do-it-youself kit - make sure you know what you are doing.

My kit is a bolt in affair

I've got a wideband gauge that has an alarm feature when AFR crosses a certain value and the voltages on a couple of other inputs are also crossed (TPS value, MAP value, etc.). Once I get that set up sufficiently dialed in, I'm thinking about the alky set-up. I'm the nervous type on this kind of thing, but I think with this warning light setup I may be okay. Thanks for the detailed answer.

Will that trunk-mounted kit work in a pre-05 evo as well? What does it use as a resevoir? Price?
