This issue with crank pullies has also been bothering me, I think it doesnt make much sense and Ive always had crank pullies on my cars so what I plan to do sometime int he near future is go the dyno with my car as is... do a run... then put on a pulley... do another pull... maybe 2 each... if I dont see a worthwhile improvement of at least 8whp+, its coming off... and obviously if I see a loss because of knock lol its coming off! But Id like to see for myself!

I have one on my car and so far haven't had any problems. Before I put it on, my car dynoed 334hp/326tq. I'm having it dynoed again next week before installing the AEM EMS. I'll post the difference if you guys would like.

One thing to remember is that you will have to put the stock unit back on to change the timing belt or add cams as there is no TDC mark on the underdrive pulleys.
While I still think that the jury continues to be out whether a pulley is a good idea on a 4g63, you are better off to use a TDC indicator/dial gauge for any timing work you do in the car - it's a lot more accurate. Also once you found TDC you can get mark your aftermarket pulley and if you want you can get it indexed at a machine shop.

YOu have a good pint although how exactly could you balance the pulley without actually balancing the crank or knowing the balance of the crank. It doesn't make sense. Please explain in more detail.

Al...I was debating on the lightweight pulley (such as Perrins) as an upgrade before a tune. Do you still not recommend them or do you think power gains can be worth it AND SAFE?

I recently intalled the pully. and I recorded timing and the power. I didn't see any evidence of timing pull from the knock sensor trigger. Actually, The power delivery and the timing got smoother. Although, I didn't see much HP gain except bit more mid and low power.

I am going to do back to back pulls this weekend probaly friday night late, within minutes of each other and log them with my EMS. A few 3/4 gear pulls stock pulleys and a few 3/4 gear pulls with the complete UR pulley set. I will figure out if the Knock is any higher. If there is ANY difference knock than off with the pulley set. PM me for the results i will might to forget to post the reasults.

So far Dynoflash is the only vendor to say the pulley is determental. Considering everything it should make 0 difference. I PMed him a few times about this and because his lack of response I decided to go with a different flash vendor. If you get a response here I will be surprised and upset.

However, I have recomended that you DO NOT get a crank pulley on a 4G63 - IMHO not a good idea

For kicks - my 9.98 second 667 whp 2.0 L evo runs a stock crank pulley for what its worth

I think that al has already posted his response..
