Boost spiking to 25psi after Dynoflash?!
Hey guys. I'm not sure if the accuracy of my gauge is off, but I noticed something today as I was watching my boost gauge in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear.
If i accellerate with full throttle from below 3K rpm, by 4K rpm, my boost gauge shows a momentary spike of 25psi and then settles at 20psi all the way to redline. This does not occur in 4th and 5th gear or when I'm building boost at higher rpm.
I had my ECU dynoflashed with the boost contolling flash for the AEM intake, JDM MR Diverter valve, and Buschur turboback exhaust with test pipe. After I got my ECU back, I ran the car for 2 days before installing the exhaust, and the boost did not spike when I had the stock exhaust on the car. Now, it spikes to 25psi very momentarily. The car is running fantastic, which is confusing me quite a bit. Since I'm using 92 octane fuel, I would think if I was seeing 25psi, my car would be detonating like mad and be pulling timing like crazy, resulting in a huge power loss when the boost spikes that high. Yet this does not happen, the car pulls all the way to redline.
Could I really be hitting 25psi of boost after getting my ECU reflashed for the mods I have on my car? Or is it a gauge accuracy problem?
I'm going to get it dyno'd with an A/F reading this weekend to see what my Air/Fuel curve is like. I'm hoping that will tell me more.
Anybody have any insight?
Thanks!
Jeff

What i need to you do is borrow a spare boost gauge to confirm tha ccurancy of your gauge and report back what rpm range trhe boost is hitting 25 psi at
More than likely your gauge is off by 2 -3 psi (very common)
Let me know how the dyno sheet looks
Thanks
I don't have access to a spare gauge, so I'm goign to take it easy before I get it dyno'd this weekend. I'll post up the graphs after I do this. Hopefully it's a gauge inacurracy.
