I love my car now. Totally a different animal now. Way smooth power delivery. How do you like that cams man. We saw you with that Kool-Aid smile of yours. Overall i stayed till the rest of the Evo's from NY were done and cruised back with them. I just wanted to say Thank you all for your hard work on my car and the Pruven guys that worked hard on troubleshooting basically all the cars there.

It was certainly an exercise in endurance this time
Two of the guys fell victim to hack job cam shaft installs. What ever you guys do make sure that who ever you have try to install your cams has experience and success in installing cams on evos. One car was off by 6 teeth on the crank pulley and we suspect that the piston may have impacted the valve as a result as he had low compression in one cylinder. The other has a super LOOSE timing belt - at least 3 " of slack - ready to jump off the pullies. For some reason that car was down in power significantly although the cause could not be readily diagnosed during the time limitations of the dyno day. Overall, a very frutatating day to have two evo ny members with these kind of problems on their cars. A very important lesson - - make sure that when you do a cam job that someone who knows what they are doing is doing the job (no impact guns on the cam journals).
Sup johnny!
The Cams are f'n great. Car is running good, but im stuck @ 19psi until I change my plugs, I got the new plugs I needed last night though. Debating going back to stock injectors too, no point to have 720cc's on the stock turbo, my system is running a tad too rich.

thankz to Al and the guyz at Pruven... they did their jobs in giving us all the advice and tuning needed...
Im a lil upset at myself for my misfortunes... i wish my car would have produced the #'s i was expecting but improper installations on my car was made by others (NOT AL OR PRUVEN).
Im still trouble shooting my car and why it wont produce the power. Funny thing is, when i got home that night... I took the cover off again and the belt was tight as hell... so i sit in my car, confused for an hour... not coming up with any conclusions... i decided to tackle the problem with a clear head the next day.
When i popped the hood the next morning... to my surprise the belt was loose again... confused again for another hour... contimplating all the angles... came up with nothing... I decided to send an email to greddy tech and i have yet to hear a response from them if its a normal thing (cold=loose & hot=tight) which i doubt.
My next few thoughts was from the discussion I had with Al and Kenny that day at Pruven...
1- I could have a timing issue (even though all saw that the marks on the cams lined up to the eye.
2- I could have some shaft play on my oem turbo... which I havent had the time to investigate yet...
As far as I can gather... all the pre-tests were good (leak down, boost leak, plugs changed... etc) and I even went the distance to have my oil, synchro, tc and tranny fluids changed at Pruven before my ride was strapped to the dyno...
If anyone has any suggestions or ideas... hit me up...
Thankz to Al and Sean/Kenny/Dan at Pruven

Sorry to keep going off topic but I need to better understand this. Was this the result of a cam install or a complete new timing belt? I ask because I do not remember paying any mind to the tensioner after my cam install. I just took out the tensioner tool and that was it. I did not even have access to the tensioner to see this pin that you are talking about. Should I be doing some double checking??
from what the guys at pruven told me ... this actually happens alot and to alot of ppl with cam installs .. the installer doesn't match the timing dead center ( which it happened to me ) but in his case .. he just recently changed the timing belt

I been thinkin and narrowing down the possibilities... it could have been from the install of the cams (March 04) till the installation of the belt (April 05)
i had the same problem (lack of power) from then in 2004 till now in 2005. In 2004, cams & gears went in with the e-manage, and i was only able to get 307whp on a dynojet in LI. I figured at the time more tuning needed to be done to hit the whp ballpark, but my installer/tuner hasnt had the time to help me out.
About a month ago, I had the upper inter-pipe, mini battery, and the belts changed. Last weekend at Pruven i had the e-manage taken off and during the time of strapping down the car the loose belt discovery was made. Even though it was loose I gave them the green light to go and dyno it. I drive my car VERY HARD WHENEVER POSSIBLE so i was surprised it survived to this day (thats why i gave them the green light). Even after the flash and the trouble shooting, last i heard my car only made 297whp. Thats when I had the conversation with AL, Kenny, Dan and Sean on what the problems could be.
