Actually I have done both. I had a WRX tuned at www.dyno-comp.com and the tunning was very un useful, yeah the tuner tune my car from 211whp to 280.3 WHP but the driveability was the worst I ever ahad in a car, almost 5000rpm full boost spoolup made my car undriveable in traffic, even worst with the A/C on.

On the other hand(different car) I had my tunning done on the road by Al(Dynoflash) and my car is just very fast, very driveable, no spoolup wait, just fantastic. I guess that the combo of both will make it perfect that way you can also see how much your car is improving(HP wise).

Yes, but those are also 2 dif cars and 2 dif tuners.

I think getting REALLY good base tunes in on the dyno are best...then dialing them in on the street are optimal

I believe Road tuning is better as DYNO is a road simulation its not the actual thing. WHen ur on the road u have the entire weight of the car, Driver and whatever else is in the car. where a dyno wont see all of them things.

I must agree with you both. When I drove in with my heavily modded WRX the car had tons and tons of mods, I mean the tunner was able to get an impressive 69WHP out of my current setting on a Dyno-Dynamic Dyno, that is a whole lot, It is equivalent to at least 100 crank horsepower.

The bad thing is that we never took it for a spin during the tunning, otherwise I would have it tune for better response. I must say that it is critical to have the car driven and have the real load, real temp, real conditions.

Generally - I like to use dynos for general research to see for example which modifications work - e.g. testing two different cam combos or two different intakes to see which one works better. Particularly on a high whp car - (over 500 whp) - its hard to "feel" the difference of 10 or 20 whp one way or the other.

Also - I like the dyno to develop and test base maps for various modification combinations.

Once you have dynoed a particular set up a dozen or two times - e.g. - say Buschur Stage 2 - there is little that additional dyno experimentation can add.

For a car that is driven on the road - I prefer to take a base map which I have developed on the dyno and adjust it to match the particular car on the road. This gives me very accurate information regarding knock threshold and VE adjustments for an individual car in the condition it is acutaly driven in. Air flow, loading and wind resistance all effect the tuning and car and it is complicated to draw generlizations when tuning on a dyno which can approzimate real world conditions.

One thing is for sure - when driving on the road there is NO need to "approximate" real world conditions.

Speaking for myself - I only tune my own evo on the track. I just use the dyno to test parts.

i would like to get road & dyno tune both when i get alky injection kit for the next time!
is there price difference?
because i also have custome-made air scoop that really works at high speed! this is another reason that i d like to get road tune!
