Cams and built head ?'s

Hey Al I talked to you on the phone this morning about this but you were really busy so you said to post it up.

I just ordered a set of GSC 272/264 cams and was wondering if it would be worth building my head at the same time or not? I didn't know if the raised redline would help my times or if I didn't have enough mods. Eventually I am planning on upgrading the turbo in the quest for 450-500whp, but that is probably a couple years away. I am already planning on head studs but didn't know about valves and retainers. I am planning on getting a reflash as I am not anywhere close to a shop to get it custom tuned. Thanks for your help.

JJ

If you're just sticking with stock lift, there's really no need to do the head right now, especially with a stock turbo, as it runs out of steam up top anyway. What you might want to try is advancing the cam timing a degree or two. This will get you slightly better spoolup, but at the cost of detonation resistance. btdt with HKS 272's, YMMV.

don't worry about it..just do headbolts at the cams (which btw are awesome!)
