Disturbing Information

Al:

Lastnight 2 friends called me about new times with their cars and its disturbing for me the information:

First White EVO Mods:
HKS 264 cams
Cam Degree
Apex SAFC2
3 inch turbo back
Fuel Pump
Intake
MBC Turbosmart
NO FLASH
stock IC piping
HKS SSQ BOV
STOCK FMIC
24 psi

Ran lastnight 12.0 @111 on pump gas

Red EVO (Kelvin one of the flashed cars)
NO CAMS
APEX SAFC2
Pump gas
Injen Turboback
Injen FMIC
Greddy Profec B 2 EBC
Dynoflash
stock upper ic pipe
stock intake box
22 psi

Ran lastnight on pump gas 12.5@109

What something is very wrong here, thos APEX SAFC2 are making some nasty whp and helping the cars you told me last time that I do not need that, well my question is, can we improve whp if leaning out the car a bit I mean from 10.8 that my car is to like 11.4. You let me know this are disturbing news for me.

Randy bro - I am lost here.

The car with cams and higher boost is a bit faster than the car without cams ???

What is disturbing to you my friend ?

Also, who tuned the AFC'd car? I'm sure Al leaves some room for play in his flashes, whereas the AFC car might be *****-out...

I think its kind of cool personally that the flashed car without cams went almost as fast as the car with cams and more boost ! (within 2 mph)

the quicker car is also running 2 more lbs. of boost.
not sure it's really comparable since the cars are so different.
also we know the dynoflash car will make it home after the track,
but who knows about the tune of the other one? he could be doing anything?

I like the idea of having a flash and safcII.. I just run an SAFCII now. Some areas are just very rich when not on wot, im hoping a flash can resolve these drvability issues.

When I do it, I hold a lighter to my a$$ and its almost like a 50 shot of nitrous.

Seriously, its not simply the AFC vs. Flash argument. I had cams and AFC, had a reflash and took out the AFC, and the car was so much more after Al's work....Driver's also play a huge part in it. Response time, shifting, the launch...too many variables other than simply flash vs. AFC

have you tried messing with your hi/low throttle. if you make low 39 and high 40, then the ecu will work on its own below 40 and the safc will work above 40. never will there be a mixture of the factory ecu and the safc. or you can make low 1 and high 2 and let the safc always control the mixture.

then your safc wasn't tuned right. correct me if im wrong Al, but your flash is spot on for changes in temperature right. for instance, a flashed car would run leaner in the winter then in the summer. so you must make it safe for all weather conditions. why would one be better then the other if the AFRs were tuned to be the same? does the afc not keep the AFRs constant through the power band but the flash does?

unless the same idiot who tuned it way too lean also is driving the flashed car without a rev limiter and over revs his engine.

dont get me wrong, both have plenty of benefits and drawbacks. and the large et difference is mostly b/c of driver.

Disturbing for me that I run 24 psi, no SAFC and I ran 12.2 @111 with 1.64 in the 60ft. I think I might need one of those SAFC 2 And I ran those times on C16 not on pump, my best time on pump was 12.50 @109

And I drive better than those 2 guys, hmm weird.
