Fmic

Al, i have a base flash with a TBE and K&N drop in, I just smashed the front of my car and i ma thinking about getting my insurance to put in a Nisie FMIC. My question is:

1. would i need a reflash?
2. Is it worth it?

you don't really need one (reflash or upgraded fmic w/ your current mods)....and the stock FMIC is good till about 400whp but if your insurance will pay for it, might as well get one and save yourself money in the future.

I would say that the gains would be very minimal if any with your current mods. But if you plan on getting a bigger turbo or are aiming to be around 400 hp then it is a good idea. I had a buschur stage 2 and then installed the fmic and the butt dyno noticed a little better top end..

If its going to be free why not?

A fmic should be good for at least 15 - 20 whp gains over the stock unit - IF it is designed properly. I have not tested the Nisie unit on the dyno so I cant comment.

As the evos have mass air flow sesnsors and becuase I tune on the conservative side - there should be plenty of room left in any tune for the addition of a fmic

Of course - in most cases with a colder, denser charge you will be able to run a bit more of an agressive tune - but this needs to be sorted out in the context of a custom tune

I hope that answers your question

wow, I didnt realize that the addition of an fmic would net those kind of gains. Makes me even more excited for my 2nd custom tune on Jan 4th at Pruven...

no it doesn't reduce your boost....and even if you dont have an mbc, al's flash controls boost in that case.

well, almost all of the fmic's I have seen have slight pressure drop.

For example, buschurs deluxe fmic, has only .84 psi pressure drop and is rated for 750hp..
