Dynoflash on completely STOCK Evo?

OK, I'm sure this has been discussed before, but i didn't find a definative answer in the big mondo "I got dynoflashed" thread. Most of all the testimonies the people had something modded on the car already (BOV, cat back, MBC).

I have a 2003, completely stock, not one mod on it. My question is-> is it worth it to get Dynoflashed without any supporting mods or should I wait untill I at least have a cat back? I'm curious to hear from people who just have the flash with nothing else done to their car.

a custom tune by itself is worth about 30hp with matching torque. You should get tuned after you get some mods.

You'll get the same power out of it whether you have mods or not. The only reason NOT to get one while stock is if you are going to add more mods in the near future, because that would likely require a reflash at an additional cost. If you just plan on installing a cat-back later, you won't need a reflash, so you should go ahead and get one now. If you are going to do mods beyond a cat-back (intake, mbc, fuel pump, cams), then you may want to wait...or just get the flash and worry about retuning it later whenever you do all those mods. It's up to you, but just know that you will definitely get a significant gain from a flash while stock.

Agreed. I gained 37 horses from a custom tune and the only thing I have on my car (for now) is a Walbro 255 fuel pump. I knew when I got the flash that I wouldn't be upgrading anything else, besides an exhaust, until next year.

I disagree unless he's going to buy several mods in the near future. IT's not a waste of money if he's driving around with an extra 20-30 whp/wtq for many months then has to get another one after getting mods down the road. Just remember that all the time spent waiting WITHOUT a tune is time spent being slow.

I had a dynoflash and drop in air filter as the only mods on my first evo; I wanted to keep it mostly stock and quiet so no exhaust. The flash was definitely worth it! The one mod you can do while leaving the car stock, and probably the most powerful single mod there is.

I had a dynoflash for a car with turboback exhaust on my bone stock car. I gained 2-3mph trap speeds and ET dropped by .4 . I'd say it is excellent for a stock car as long as the first mod you do afterwards is exhaust since it really will make no difference in your tune or boost level, it will just be more efficient. If you are adding cams or boost control it is a different story..

I personally like the flash on a bone stock evo. With the boost controlling function it really wakes things up.

After you get the stock flash for $199 - when you upgrade your mods its only $100 to upgrade the flash

Its always possible that you may actually be happy with the car after you have just the flash on there - however impossible that may seem !
