Review on Mail-in flash for Evo 9

Maybe it has been covered before but not all the Evo 9 has the same mods as I do.

Mods: Greddy 3" Catback,WorksHFcat,Megan Racing DP,air filter,MBC,Flash

First of all, Thanks Al for the superfast turn around, it took approximately 40 hours from the time I sent the ECU to you back to me and keep in mine we are some 3000 miles apart or more.

The mail in was hassle free, the instructions on the website are very easy to read.

Let talk about the performance factor, the car started the first time no issues, it iddles perfectly and no CEL. The boost taper is gone, the car pulls hard to red line. You can feel more power thorughout the entire RPM range.

This was indeed my favorite mod, hassle free and great results. On the other hand, I also installed the UNOS MBC. I installed the stronger spring. This MBC is very easy to operate, no tools are necessary for fine tunning (unlike others), I highly recommend this item (UNOS MBC).

Overall this flash is the way to go, great results and absolutely no compromise between safety and performance.

Thanks Al!!

Carlos

I would wait for a custome tune. Depending on your level of modification, you will in turn make more power with a custom tune. But the mail in flash is still really nice.

Thanks Al!!

My lady just drove the car from work to home and she just called me very very excited saying that the car is the $hit, the engine pulls to red line hard. But I told her not to tell me, I told her to tell the forum. She will.

I did the fine tunning of the MBC, it hold 20.5PSI to red line but it spikes to about 22-23PSI for a split of a second.

Al,

Just as Carlos said, I drove my car home from work, and WOW I could not wipe the smile off my face. There were a couple of stupid guys trying to play catch up with me, but they never could.

The car feels sooooo light from before, and of course once the turbo kicks in, boys!! you better hold on to your hats I can really feel the pull, seeing the little hand on the boost gauge peaking to about 23 and holding boost at 20 1/2, it's so amazing. The best part, no iddle problems, no check engine light on, the quick response once you step on the gas!!!! I can't wait to take it to the track here and in Phoenix, I know I'll have some very nice numbers.

If anybody is thinking about doing the mail in flash but are hesitant, DO IT!!!!! you won't regret it. Unleash the beast that hides under the hood

Al, once again, thank you very much!!!! I was extremely impressed with the turn around. I was without a car for 2 days!!!! Carlos and I are very happy with the results. Once we have some running numbers, we will let you and everybody know how we did.

Take care,

Socorro

Update on the Dynoflash mail-in flash.

It has been over a year and I know that there are thousands of Evo 9 owners with mail- in flashes now. If you go back 14-15 months, the mail -in flash was still in development.

I threw one of the first rocks and tried the already reliable dynoflash methods of tuning for the Evo 9.

Well.. over a year now and being one of the first Evo 9 owner and also one of the first Evo 9 owner to have a mail in flash I think I can unmistakebly recommend and keep recommending Dynoflash products.

It has been a 14-15 months flawless with zero reliability issues. I know that there are many other vendors that now offers mail in flashes but at least take my word on this one.

From the day I received this ECU back from Dynoflash(5500 mile round trip in an astonishing 42 hours) the car started on the first try. Not a single CEL or a engine hesitation. Having that peace of mind of realiability is paramount and priceless!

Dynoflash mail-in flashes are one of the best performance package values you can ever get for a Evo.

my .2c

Carlos

I will throw a +100 on there as well. I ran my mail in tune on my IX for over 12000 miles with absolutely zero issues. Performance absolutely noticeable gain with Al's mail in tune.

After many months of trouble free operation, I then upgraded the fuel pump, added methanol injection, and a custom tune by Al here in Tucson. As of now Im pushing about 7500 miles on Al's custom tune with the methanol injection. Zero problems.... and the second highest numbers recorded on IAPs Mustang dyno for a setup like this. (The number one guy had a bit more hp and tq but he was running 110 octane on his pulls).

And I have 13000 miles on my flash and have run 11.93 at SIR without a full custom tune. Carlos fill me in whats up with the new signature/ DISMANTELED EVO 8 MR???????????
