Dyno question

Al,

I know you have alot of experience tuning at both Pruven and at Buschur. I was just curious if you had an idea of the difference between dynos. I know that Davids (new one) seems to read alot lower then Pruvens - do u have any idea what the difference is? Thanks!

They are completely different dynos. Buschur's is a low-reading Mustang, and Pruven's is a generous Dynojet. There's really no comparison and none should be made. You should check out some of the many threads Buschur has posted showing mods and relative power being made. He also has a thread showing a IX that dyno'd at a local Dynojet (281whp), then dyno'd at BR (218whp). They did that to show the difference between those 2 at least for that car. You would expect it to be similar for Pruven's Dynojet, but we aren't yet sure if it's a linear (22%) difference, a static difference (63whp), or somewhere in between.

I think the BR dyno and those configured similarly are closer to reality. If you figure a 20-22% AWD drivetrain loss on 218awhp, you get mitsus claimed ~280bhp amount.
