al or warr, track question

going to drag my evo this weekend and have a question on race gas..
mods are:
tbe
lower i/c pipe
front mount
walbro
buschur intake
forge mbc
dynoflash of course

currently running 19psi.
If I run like a 110 unleaded, can I turn the boost up a little or would I be better to just run on pumpgas?

edit: it's an evo 9

It does not have to be Al or Warr to answer that one, there are hundreds of people that could answer that one as well. You can raise the boost with that race gas.

I believe most of the gains from race gas, although come from raising the boost the rest is through messing with the timing, which you cannot risk on pump gas. So if you have a safe tune on pump gas, and throw race gas in the tank and raise the psi 3-4 or so you should be safe, from what I have been told, however if this is wrong, somebody please lmk/post otherwise.

Yeah, y ou're fine. First of all, you should be running more like 21psi on your IX even on 91oct. 19psi is lower than stock and is a bit of a waste.

With race gas, you can crank it up to 24-25psi and rock out with your **** out. I recommend not using 110 leaded, though. Try to get the highest unleaded octane you can find so that you don't have to worry about messing up your o2 sensors. Look for 100 or 104 unleaded...

sorry, I guess the forge mbc listed is not controlling boost?

yea, i only have put 75 miles since I finished putting the car together from al's flash and the exhaust/ic/fuel pump, so haven't had a chance to bump up the boost(call it lazy), but let me tell you, the car is 100% diff. from before the parts and flash, and I know that 75% of the power I am seeing is coming from the flash

I thought I have seen 110 octane unleaded around here, but I will buy the safest unleaded I can and bump it up to 24.
tried 110 leaded in my last evo. couple of stations sell at the pump, but too much of a hassle to buy.
I know that I have seen 116or 117 at the speed shop, but don't know if it was leaded or not.

thanks for the advice and wish me luck.
last evo I ran did 13.4(****ty driving). hoping for mid 12's with my lack of experience at the track

110 is always leaded, I believe, but I could be wrong. I think the highest unleaded is VP109, which is some awesome ****, but quite expensive. Usually, the highest unleaded you can find is 104.

hey warr, quick question... if this is true... do you think running a 1:3 of race to pump matters then ? we have 114 out here, not sure if its leaded or unleaded... but in the chance that it is leaded... would it be better in your opinion to run the 104 unleaded more than likely a 50/50 mix or the 114?

I used to run 110 leaded mixed with our 93 out here to get around 100octane.
easy formula, and is supposed to be better than running solid leaded, for o2 longevity, but I will stick to unleaded for this car...

Put it this way. I have not once completely drained my tank in order to put in race gas. I have gotten my tank of 93 down to varying levels from below E to a 1/4, but I have never drained the whole thing. I've used mixes of 93/100, 93/104, and 93/110, but the power difference between each combo has been negligible. I've never been 100% custom tuned on race gas, so that doesn't mean that there is not some extra power to be gained from a higher overall octane, but for these purposes, you can basically run any combo of race gas and crank the boost to 24psi safely. I say to go ahead and use the lowest octane you can find so as to spend less and avoid leaded if possible, since you won't be able to retune and get the max potential of the higher octane.
