Controlling boost after flash on VIII?

I thought I'd post this in the forum instead of yet another PM to Al in case someone else was wondering the same thing...I'm sure Warrtalon could answer too...

I saw Warr say that if boost was raised through a flash on a IX, it would remain static, around 20-21 psi, but could not be adjusted with a boost controller once it was done....I had my VIII flashed to 22 psi on a Buschur flash & Al reccomended that I just keep the same tune but add an mbc- Is it just the IX that can't be adjusted with a boost controller after the flash? I'm sort of confused after reading that last post.

No, that is not what I said. If you have an MBC, then the flash is no longer controlling boost, because the Boost Control Solenoid is no longer in the loop. The Buschur flash also doesn't raise your boost to 22psi - it doesn't have that ability - maybe 20-21psi with little taper. Remember that boost gauges are usually wrong and most read high. The Buschur flash is just a specially-tuned Dynoflash made for the Buschur packages, but it has no ability to set the psi at certain levels. It just can reduce the boost taper.

If you have no MBC, the flash controls boost and the owner has no way to change it.

If you have an MBC, the MBC controls boost instead of the ECU, and the owner can change it whenever.
