RH9 - the future of Dyno Flash Evo 8 . . . . .
I am somewhat disilusioned and confused by the recent trends in the Evo drag world with all the super lightweight drag machines being fielded by the major shops and now with my Evo finally dialed in and running well its tough to decide what to do next . . . .
I am not detracting from what others are doing, I am just trying to set a course and plan for the direction I want to take
With the major shop evos undergoing a major diet and gutting going down to the 2600 lbs to 2700 lbs range it has become a major dilema whether or not I want to put my beloved Evo under the knife and gut the heck out of it to try and keep up with the leaders or go in another direction
While dramatically reducing the weight of the car is fairly cost effective and simple technology there are significant consiquences to consider
First, my major consideration is that if I gut the car and install lexan windows and remove the interior etc, it will no longer be useful for any form or sanctioned or orgainized drag racing that I engage in such as NHRA or NOPI or even the WRX vs EVO shootout
Once you gut the car dramatically, it no longer qualifies for a street class of racing and puts you into a class with modfied cars which are much faster and really full race machines
Secondly, I still enjoy to run my car on the road and its street legal. Although its no longer a daily driver I still can use it anytime I feel I need a ride in a really fast car.
I am toying with the idea of going more in a sports car direction
To me this kind of AWD vehicle is resonating more with me that some drag monstrosity on bias ply racing sicks
This looks like the kind of vehicle I am trying to build . . . .
The thought of a very fast - yet very streetable road machine that goes 9 seconds in the 1/4 mile is something that appeals to me
RH9 Club. That stands for Record Holding 9, an exclusive group of tuning shops that have built 9-second street cars in Japan.
Generally reguarded as a 9 second GTR skyline running on Street legal tyres without the use of nitrous in 400m or 1/4mile, in japan, the person or team who'd broke into the 9 second bracket would'd be praised. So anyone ever borken into the 9second barrier....
no nos, slick tyres, but unlimted power and potential. Anyone have the settings,as i want to get into the RH9 or ever gotten their.
Veilside evolution Skyline GTR (R32) did 0-300KM/H in 13seconds on street tyres...
it also did 8 seconds on street tyres 1/4mile.
I am hoping to cement the Dyno Flash Evo as a true member of RH9 by running consistant 9 second runs on street radial tires with a sports suspension and fully street legal and at a weight of 3200 lbs
We'll see how the new concept works out this weekend at the big WRX vs Evo shootout at Raceway Park

Al, I Love the Evo and what made me pick it over any car in the world was what the car can do. I think that the Evo is the greatest platform alive and I will never change from it. Evo X will come out soon and I think it will be AWESOME. I would like to see you stay with the Evo platform. Don't leave man

When you say street legal do you mean passing emissions?
Do you sleep. LOL

Obviously the car is not emissions legal but - including a full exhuast and all lights, signals and other basic DOT equipment and the ability to function as a street car
e.g. no welded diffs
no lexan windshield
No cut body members
etc
