Al, what's the final verdict regarding intakes?

Let's settle this once and for all!! Drop in filters or cone-type??? Which would you recommend?

I would imagine it depends on your supporting mods. Stock airbox with a drop in is efficient up to a certain amount of horsepower, from there I think you would have to upgrade to K&N, HKS, or other aftermarket filters/intake systems.

I think that if you did a search you would find that he recommends the K&N drop in, BR cone, or the HKS RS (if you are not in a real dusty area).

Warr or Al correct me if I am wrong.

While i recommend the Apex'i Power Filter as you will see in that thread. I linked to a thread showing it made equal power to the HKS RS while actually filtering better (because of it's shape, and design). Al made a thread advising against the HKS RS because he tuned a car with a completely flithy intake track, and he will tell you to get the BR because it gets the job done for cheap.

The reason Intakes make cars lose power is because the MAF readings get messed up, but the Apex'i intake has a special design for MAF equiped cars to provide smooth airflow. Check it out.
