Are you using pistons with a offset pin? I think people say they are much quiter but I don't any first hand experince.
Pruven has several cars with the stock ecu and built motors out there. Although i no longer have the stock ecu at this time, I did make 575 whp before with my built motor and spray. There are numerous dyno sheets of how my built motor worked with the stock ecu and reflash .

I use the Pruven Performance pistons which are their own custom spec design and which have performed flawlessly for 9,500 miles of insane abuse. They are not offset

I will be interested to hear how the Magnus - (which I use) compares to the JUN

I use the AMS with boost comp

Very nice Al! The A/F ratio looks very smooth and it looks like a lot of fine tuning went into it. Do you have a torque curve from that dyno run?

BoostSolutions: Settle this madness, put the BJ's, JUN, and Magnus on a flowbench. And post the results! I'm very curious...

AL - what kind of exhaust did you have on previously?

Just curious, because that's such an easy mod, you had to have something right??

We will, as soon as the JUN shows up

knife edged cranks are good? oh i for got it is always better to take material off a crucial part of a bottom end on a turbo chaged motor

Personally - I took 20 lbs of weight out of my crank

My next run was 540 to the wheels but it needs adjustment for the new exhuast

I hope it yeilds a 10 second pass on the strip !

Dyno Flash tuning makes the smooth power every time

Al,

I thought you already had a 3" Turbo back? If so, why would you get the Buschur cat back....and if you did, you gained more power?

Ever since I started tuning Evos - i have seen a consistant pattren that the Buschur exhuast makes the most power of all the exhuasts

Also - the Buschur is the lightest

Now that I am mostly drag racing this season - I needed the max power and a good loud sound to impress the fans

The down pipe on my car is custom to fit my turbo

So I just added the Buschur picked up 30 whp over my previous 3" system

Why am I finding it hard to believe that a 3" catback can gain 30whp over another 3" catback, unless the first catback was a non straight through muffler, or necked down, or some other major restriction.

I don't doubt the dyno sheet, I doubt the claim that the exhaust gave that much power.

Good try though.

I would agree changing from one exhaust seems quite suprising to see such an increase. Though realize you are dealing with quite a bit mroe power. Air flow characteristics do start coming more into play now then before. So when you let the air flow a little more I would not see why an exhuast could flow up to 30 more horsepower. Though they could have rounded from 28.7 or whatever was the actual number. Also remember it is not jsut about throwing the exhuast on, but also retuning for the new exhuast. Magazines never test that part, they just through an exhuast, what does that really tell you, nothing...

Cheers,

When I shifted from the RMR 3" to the Perrin 3" system at a dyno day I did a few months ago I lost 8 whp - as confirmed by about 30 people who were wacthing

All I can tell you is that the Buschur unit is tuned very well to the Evo and it really frees up the back pressure and lets my turbo make about 1 - 2 psi more effective boost than my previsous exhuast

The ONLY adjustments made were turning up the boost and switching the mufflers

I would have liked to test it with the same exact boost level but I did not do that

The previous exhuast was making too much back pressure due to a very curvey pipe and resptrictive quiet muffler which had the effect to lower my high boosting ability

When you are making 530 - 540 whp on a small turbo like I have - there are huge gains to be found with exhaust tuning.

Sometimes - something that yields a 5 or 6 who gain on a relatively stock car can yield 5 times that much on my power level

Finally - keep in mind - we saw 40 ft lb gains on Rollaways car with the electric exhuast cut out door !

Here is the A - B comparission of the open cut off vs. closed cut off - there is MORE power to be found in the exhuast than you think

Please keep in mind that for the size turbo I am running on my car my whp figures are insane - I think its almost 60 whp more than HKS quotes for the turbo. In order to get these kind of results - I have to test and try every thing and I chose what works
