Tips for fuel management
Tips for fuel management
(This is a repost, but I wanted it here to get Al's feedback)
I am done with engine/power mods for my Evo, so I want to finalize my fuel system. Currently I am Dynoflashed for 93 octane (and I now live in Cali so I can only get 91), and I have the following mods:
RMR 3" DP, Cat-back, IC piping, intake and intake piping (stock cat)
Power Enterprise boost controller/gauge (currently set to 1.25 kPa ~ 18 psi)
Lots of dress-up or non-applicable stuff
I have a Walbro 255 lph fuel pump, but it is not installed yet. I am wondering if any of you guys who have experience can tell me if I should do more than just add the pump and get reflashed. For example, do I need bigger injectors, etc.? I would think not, esp. since I'm going to be running the stock turbo for a while. The only other thing I'd like to do is put in better headstuds so I can run a little more boost (maybe up to 1.5 kPa ~ 22 psi).
Please post your suggestions and keep any flames to yourselves. If you are a n00b, please don't post unless you have extensive experience. Thanks in advance!

you don't need bigger injectors... but if your gonna do headstuds you can take the boost up past 24 psi...not on 91
the walbro has been known to cause adverse effects, but you could get away with a TTM flash.you could get a fuel rail put in, to look flashy

also let me know if there are any jobs for cybersecurity guys out in SD, i feel like moving !
If you want cams i got a set of HKS 272/272 i would sell. Only reason im thinking about selling them is im going with a huge turbo and am going to need something with a little more lift to help the spool. Of course along with more life comes valtrain. Let me know
You should definitely run your Walbro pump and keep your boost levels a little bit more conservative than what you were running on 93 octane. People who have never run on 91 octane just don’t know how bad this gas really is. You should also get reflashed to use the lower octane or I think your ECU will pull too much timing and you’ll lose power. The trick to running good on 91 octane is to run less boost in order to allow the ECU to run more timing , at least that has been my experience with my Talon AWD and Dodge Colt Turbo. I will be seeing Al on the 31st to get a Base Flash done and will be talking to him about some more tips on how to run good on our crap gas, I will also try out a water/alcohol injection set up on my EVO in the future also.

I would suggest you stay with stock injectors - add the pump - raise the boost and come see me at the end of the month - as a previous customer you cost for the entire custom tune is $350 - there is a thread on my section here wheer you can reserve a spot
