Evo IX's Mailed in flash on 91 octane???

HI,

I've been reading results for Dyno flashed Evo IX mail ins, w/ tbe, mbc, and intakes and it seems people are running 1/4 times from 11.91-low 12's. But it seems like they are on 93 octane.

So since we have only 90/(91 with Torco fuel additive) octane in Alaska. I'm wondering if 91 octane dynoflashed IX's are also running these nice low 12et times??? Or is there a notable difference between 91-93 octane?

Thanks,
Justin

Yes there is a difference

PANGES May 16, 2006 03:33 PM

how much of a power difference is there between 91 octane and 93 octane with the same mods and tune.

Bump...can some 91 tuned IX flashes, post of 1/4 times to see the difference?

EVOIX4me May 18, 2006 06:20 PM

check with some of the guys in the west region vegas forms , we have **** 91 oct out here and al did a bunch of flashes on some IX's {thumbup}

DynoFlash May 18, 2006 09:02 PM

The IX actaully does a better job dealing with 91 octane than the 8 did

I would say that on average you loose about 20 whp on a IX with a 91 octane tune vs. a 93 octane tune

This makes me sad :( . My day is officially ruined. :crap:

I hope when I get my bushcur stage 1 n dyno flash it will still be fast.

IT WILL BE Oh yes.. IT will be LOL, we'll make it go fast homie, us alaskan evo's must stick together and prevent our cars from being jacked and stripped!~ While doing that, we must go faster!

EvolvinEvo May 20, 2006 09:27 AM

so how about people with 92 octane flash? is it 'in between' or same map as 91 octane guys? my car is fast either way :)

RenoEvo May 23, 2006 06:20 PM

The difference can be as low as 10whp. Some cars lose 15 MAYBE 20whp

daking917,

Just to give you a piece of mind, I do have a Evo 9 which was tuned by Al using his mail -in flash, it also has the same mods as you described and off course it runs all day long on 91oct.

I run everyday at around 21-22psi here on AZ at 3100 feet elevation and 100 degrees. The car does fine, no knock.

If you need more information I will be willing to answer any further questions. Botton line, the Evo 9 and mail in flash on 91oct is still a strong setup.

Unforuately, on a day to day basis we only have **** 90 available. Is there a 90 octane flash or do you just use the 91 flash?

PANGES May 23, 2006 07:44 PM

wow... only 90? and I thought us in Cali got dicked...

armympjch May 23, 2006 08:03 PM

20 whp? That is a big difference for only a 2 octane difference. I would expect about 20-30 whp b/w 91 and 100
