E85 Yellow Fuel Cap

They finally got E85 in my area . I am preparing the car for it and I wonder if anybody has had issues with station attendants not allowing them to put E85 in their cars. I know an E85 badge may help, but are there any yellow E85 fuel caps that fit our cars to also help divert the problem?

I've never had any problems with the attendants not allowing me to put in e85 in my car, and this is going on 2 years of nothing but e85. Although I thought about the yellow fill cap a while back, not to keep the people away. Just thought it would be a cool little addition.

Ya thats true here too, but this being the first pump within 200 miles, just want to avoid the potential.

I have had a few attendants come running out to courtesy stop me, as they thought I was at the E85 pump by mistake. Never been an issue, however.

I have a yellow cap, bought from eBay a few years ago. I believe it's a STANT 10834Y cap (the standard cap is 10834, you tack a Y onto the end for...you guessed it...yellow color). RockAuto and a bunch of other places carry them; they're cheap ($4).

That said: nobody has ever batted an eye at the fuel cap, in either IL or CA.

I've had gas attendants insist I was going to kill my car and be-grudgingly give it to me. They still shake their head when I go there. 2 years and the car is still running.....give it up.

I don't think they could legally stop you from getting E85. If they aren't going to allow you to get E85 I doubt a gas cap is going to make "everything all good".

I get annoyed every time they do it. I had to threathen one guy. I asked him if I needed to come in to have a conversation about letting pump gas for the car regardless of what he thought.

I wanted to punch him in the face.

So is the 10834Y or the 11834Y the right one?

Yeah, I saw a similar story on here somewhere. In that one, they even got the police involved. As I recall, the guy was eventually allowed to buy it, but they said no more after that. I was hoping to head-off any such problem with an E85 badge and cap. Hope I never have to go there.

The only time I've been restricted, was on a promotion day where they sell it for $1.85 a gallon each year. And that was only because I was filling a 5 gallon jug along with filling up my IX.

10834Y is the right one; I screwed up the part number in my original post, and 10isace has it right. Apologies, I've corrected it above.
