1200cc injectors for e85 and stock 8 ECU...injectors to big for stock ecu??
OK... so I have looked into EVERYTHING about e-85 that I can find, and it is time to make the switch!! My only question is.........
CAN I GET AWAY WITH RUNNING 1200cc INJECTORS WITH THE STOCK EVO 8 ECU?? I know 1000cc injectors will work just fine, but ams prices are $400.00 for 1000cc and $400.00 for 1200cc... So i figure why not get the 1200cc, but I want to know if they can tune them on the stock ecu? My mode list is below.. I have cams and adjustable cam gears so I figure they should be able to do it. I talked to the shop and they said that it probly would work, but he has never done 1200cc for e-85. He said he has done 1000cc lots and that 1000cc tune just like 1200cc. He also said that he has tunned 1200cc for e-85 on the AEM EMS... and that they tune 1600cc on stock dsm ecu which are simular to evo ecu. So has anyone else done e-85 switch on 1200cc injectors and stock ecu? I did read about one other member using 1150cc and not having a problem.. but that is only one story.... help me out!! Thanks!!{thumbup} |
Link to another EVO running 1,200cc on E85 here.
It should not be an issue to tune the OEM ECU with 1,200 cc injectors. However, unless you plan to upgrade to twin fuel pumps and a much bigger turbo, I would stay with 1,000cc. Just because you are getting a 'bigger' size injector for the same price is not a good reason to go big. Size your injector to what you need, plus a reasonable margin, and go with the correct size. Kind of like buying pants, buy the size that fits your waist even though the XXL is the same price. :D :mitsu: |
I'm on 1200cc injectors and e85 w/ stock ecu. It works just fine, you just need a good tuner.

would 1000s with a single 255 be enough for a conservative tuned evogreen?
where the hell is warrtalon. |
well I have just decided to go with 1000cc anyway.. better to play on the safe side!

can i run 1200cc on a single walboro on 91oct? and later upgrade to twin walboro when i get e85 tune? don't mean to thread jack
Thanks |

do you need e85 specific injectors? i read that some are no good with e85
|
You can run bigger than 1000cc injectors with a stock ECU, its just gonna idle rough. I would stick to 1000cc max. I am running 880cc on mine.

Stop posting misinformation, please. I run 1250s on the stock ECU and they don't 'idle rough'....both on pump gas and E85. I know people running even bigger and they idle fine. It matters on the quality of the injector and the quality of the tune.

And as l2r99gst mentioned, larger than 1000cc injectors aren't going to automatically cause a rough idle. With proper tuning, they can be made to idle as well as stock (even with cams and other mods). Finally, just so everyone is aware, the original post/thread is over a year old. :) |
