E85 prices rising in my area, what about yours?
 

just made the switch to E85 last month, and now the price is slowly creeping right up towards the price of gasoline. the cheapest in my area (sacramento area) is now 3.49 while 87 octane is 3.49 at the arco station. this sucks hopefully this pattern does not continue. how are the prices looking in your area?

Just paid $3.63 this morning here in Seattle Area...That price is actually down from what it was a few weeks ago

Its suppose to start rising I thought. Something about farmers not growing corn fo the purpose of ethanol as much now. Im not a politician, I dont know all the details lol.

Its hovering around 3.09 here. I dont care anymore though, I switched back to pump. :)

Why the switch back?

I filled up on Friday at $4.51/gal.

I usually pay 3.25 in east orange, NJ but today I filled up in NY and paid 3.59.

Number of reasons.

With the hta green turbo, i can push the block to a nice safe point on pump. Yes, I could rellly push it past its limits on e85, but it wasnt worth it for me.

I also didnt want to spend the extra money for the injectors and fp to run an hta green to its full potential.

On pump, I should be able to make mid 400s low 400 tq, without the hassle of gettin gas from two stations in town. not having to shell out the dough for the big injectors and double pumper. As well as I feel like i can enjoy the car more on pump. I can take the car on trips without having to map out e85 stations. Thats such a pita. Especially when you get 11mpg.

Thats why I am looking to get rid of the green currently as well. Wanna go with a 35r setup. Make big power on pump, tq is late so it cushions the stock block while making big power in the upper rpm powerband.

3.09 in my area. Still cheaper then regular (Its 3.27)

It is 3.29 for e85 where I live while reg 87 is 3.49

got you all beat at $3.79/gal yesterday in portland. premium was $3.99/gal.

Farmers don't care where their YC#2 (yellow corn #2) goes; very few sell directly to the end-user (feed, food, ethanol, etc.). This year we actually have one of the highest corn crops in recorded history (due to planted acres, not yield/acre), but the farmer is holding it in inventory until the new year for tax reason.

CBOT ethanol is trading fairly high vs. RBOB gasoline right now, and the local market spot prices are even higher. The only thing keeping ethanol prices inline with 87-octane at this point is the 45-cent/gallon blenders credit which will be gone come 1/1/12. Don't be surprised if you see E85 costing a premium vs. regular unleaded come January.

Its 3.03 a Gallon in DFW.

I didnt know all the details. I knew there was something that passed that was gonna take affect the 1st of the year. :)
