i hooked up and read a couple of other evo ecu's and flashed them. 2 of the evo also had their rpm scaling all over the place. it seems that if i dont touch the scaling, and simply change the numbers in the table, the car will run fine.
It scared me a little when I first saw it. I mean the car runs fine and its completely stock. The ID for my 03 is 94170008 and her 04 is 96420008. That is the only difference I found in the ECU's

Well, now i have a questions about this, and Al, please chime in if you like.
I've been trying to figure out why Al's first eflash was not working properly, ie the car would not rev over 4500 rpms. Stationary rev was stock. Originally, the rom was loaded with the 94170008 (i think thats it) matching the stock ecu for the car. When we loaded it up, all the rpm tables were off, kind of like a valet map.
After some searching, a friend tried to change the rom image at the beginning when you load up the rom. He chose 94170064 and everything loaded up just fine (rpm tables to be exact).
Now the question is, will a map work on an ecu that is 94170008, but was created for a 94170064 (i think thats it) ? Is all you have to do is change the rom reader initially, or will the car not run without it matching the stock ecus ID.
THanks,
