I'm not sure I would zero this out as my understanding of that map depending on how much over/under your current boost is to your desired level it looks up the values on how quickly it should adjust to get back to desired level.

I raised the value (closer to zero) for the over boost settings so it would be a little slower to react.

the problem I have with changing all the boost desired tables is that the other lower tables are there for warm up and possibly(correct me if I am wrong, I am by no means a pro at this) for knock/low octane situations. I would prefer to just change the highest map and leave the rest alone for safety

I will leave those alone, I have no problem with how fast the car corrects improper boost levels right now. it sounds like this may be the place to look to correct boost spike though

Come on, the real ECUflash gurus need to write a how-to on boost control.

BUMP

I adjusted my bone stock evo IX boost desired engine load table #2 to 159.4 up to 6k then tapered the last 1,000 rpm down. on a properly warmed up engine it holds just over 1.3 bar on the stock boost guage to approx 5k then starts to taper down to just over 1.2 bar til 6k where it drops to 1.1 bar due to me interpolating from 159.4 to 125 between 6 and 7 k rpm. I plan on changing further, this was just a first time flash

the flash worked flawlessly, I also lowered my launch control to 4k just to help protect me from momentary lapses in judgment.

Edit: I just reread the basics tutoral and low and behold it explained boost limit it looks like boost limit may have been kicking in at 5k. tomorow I will log and run 159.4 target and boost limit set to 255 for the whole range and see if it still starts tapering @ 5k.

Did you modify or pull out the boost pill?

Just a quick note,

I started with an EFLash, all the above mentioned settings, boost desired load, max wastegate duty cycle, and boost error correction were all modified. However in my case i saw no change in the stock bost curve.

I then removed my stock BOV and put in the old style forge I have had sitting around for a while and imediatly picked up 1.5 psi at redline.

So, if playing around with these settings does not seem to show any result, it could be other things like a leaky BOV. I will be re doing the pretention on my actuator in the very near future so we shall see how that does.

One thing I don't understand is how boost error is calculated? The car does not have a multibar map sensor so how would it be able to calculate boost error... perhapse it is based on maf vs rpm reading????

AFAIK, the "boost" targets are really load targets (or some variant of the load we see on the fuel and timing maps). The "boost error" is really a load error.

The tightened actuator should certainly help, I used to get 5 PSI extra on another car from this (as long as the closed loop target doesn't pull it down again - but we can adjust this with ECUflash).

Might be worth noting the sizes of the restrictors used and considering moving some of them around if this would be suitable?

BTW, the JDM and UK IX have twin solenoids, can you get that in your regulations? The second solenoid is only operating at middling duty cycles AFAIK, you can see my ROM on OpenECU. There are about four pairs of duty maps, four of them at 100%, the others already sculptured.

no I did not modify anything on the car aside from the maps in the ecm
I was a little off on my boost #s, after changeing to 159.4 for the entire boost target map # 2 and boost limit to 255, I spike 1.3 hold 1.25 til about 5500-6000 where it tapers some
it looks like it runs through ignition maps 1 and/or 2 and hits 220 load at approx 3000 then settles at 3500-6500 in the 200 load cells

That was probably because you has a stock VIII plastic BOV. The IX already has a metal BOV that doesnt leak.

And yes boost is calculated with MAF and load.

Exactly, just threw it out there to say if you don't get the expected result after raising duty cycle and boost limit etc, don't assume that the ecu is not capable of reducing boost tapper, look for other possible issues as well like a boost leak, crappy bov, etc.

I'm not sure if this is true, but my tuner speculates he should be able to control the boost via ECU if he had a 3 port solenoid similar to the ones the WRX guys use...

I may be incorrect, but I believe this has to do with timing before fuel cut? I may have taken what Jack said out of context, but I believe that was what he was referring to:

Perhaps he can elighten us.
