Thanks.

Bump for Girlie's results.

I like you kick-*** Amercians, you get things done rather than moan about things like stiff-assed Brits. Maybe sometimes you're not too subtle about it but generally I like your style. This forum rocks

Thanks. Much lower pressure drop then. What boost level do you run at say 4,5,6,7000 RPM?

Spike to 23psi and taper to 20psi at 7k.

Thanks, that is about half the drop of the stock airbox in a similar setup then.

What gear is everyone doing their pulls in as that should make a difference?

3rd or 4th for most of mine. When I had the gauge on the inlet I noticed a slight ram air effect in 5th gear at the top.

By removing the lid off my stock airbox, I've cut the pressure drop from 10KPa to 4.5KPa - seems close to the induction kit log above. 101.5 KPa to 97 KPa today in 3rd or 4th gear.

I'm wondering if that pressure differential is the source of the "Found power" that aftermarket intakes claim..

We do know that some of the folks at higher altitude are getting more timing in their tunes (I think thats what I recall) So if you alter the differential, I wonder if it has an affect on your tune in a significant manner..

Here is my log...it is 2nd gear at 20.5 psi. The baro goes down to 100 at the lowest.
It is a IX with a Buschur filter and stock maf pipe.

To the jcsbanks:

I have read this and other posts about the Airbox mod you had done years ago, found one post where you had uploaded links to pictures showing exactly what you did, but those links no longer work.

could you perhaps PM me the pictures or update this thread with this solution that you have come to ?

Thank You

Tom

I no longer have the pics, but I cut the side out that faces away from engine and towards the wing so it wouldn't take warm air from the radiators/fans/manifold.
