Stable Boost is Very Important!
Stable Boost is Very Important!
Ok I just wanted to say -
My main tuning problem has been knock in areas without aggressive timing. I'm on a 2.3 with a 35r and around 20psi I am at a 260 load point on the stock computer. I would get knock in the higher RPM ranges in spots that I didn't expect.
Now I think it is mainly due to the fact that my electronic boost controller wasn't doing a great job keeping the boost steady. Logging my boost I found that I was fluctuating about +1psi and -1psi from my target boost. So let's figure a 2 psi 'amplitude' with a very high frequency.
I'm gonna go ahead and make the assumption that the stock computer doesn't like dealing with boost fluctuation. And I had made it more difficult for the computer by scaling the load all the way to 320 (for the boost spike on the stock turbo on the 2.3 motor).
So I've re-scaled so that I have increments of 10 load on either side of my target load and installed a MBC which holds boost way more steady on the external wastegate than the EBC.
Hope this helps anyone else that might be having a similar problem.
