recommended boost pressure question
those of you who have tuned/flashed an othewise stock evo 8 2005 (no intake or exhaust mods) what are you setting peak and hold boost too..assuming you are using an mbc.. 93 gas
On a stock ecu, 03 evoVIII, 91octane with boost cut flashed out and a MBC I can run about 23 peak and 19 at redline with just a bit of knock. (1-2 counts for 1-200 rpms at a time) the knock is during peak boost and redline. So on 93oct you should be safe yet weather and other variables exist. Best to log and see if its knockin. Spend $90 on a cable and be safe.
I got the cable before I touched anything since I like to live on the edge.
Also depending on who tuned your car, your "safety" low octane maps may be the same as your high octane maps. This will eliminate your safety net requiring you to always run good gas and whatever boost you were tuned on.
