How many times have you flashed?
Well, how about this ...
Say there is a limit to the number of flashes to a specific address ... it's known that the ECU has tons of spare room that we aren't using. Couldn't we just simply patch the ROM to write to the unused space and therefore start fresh? Obviously, the address that determines where everything else is stored has not been overwritten so it should still be writable even if other address go bad.
Thoughts?

I am mid 1000 now. I lost count but figure that I flash 2-3 times a day, 6 days a week since July of last year. This doesnt count raceday when I will flash between races or when I am spending ALOT of time tuning and will tune after every pull. So far all good.

Just for some extra numbers, I've got 30 unique files on my comp that have all been on the car ... most of these have 3-7 iterations or so. I'd guess I've flashed about 80 times ...
Chris is right though ... JB has benchmarked it. Think of the # of flashes as a warranty ... the manufacturer guarantees the chip for so many writes, but it will likely last longer. Unless Mitsu made the chips ... then they'll claim that your new wiper blades caused the write failure.

In case anyone was curious how I know exactly how many times I flash.
Drive to work, make a pull, look at log, tune/tweak (especially now with new mods and "features")
Drive home for lunch, make a pull, look at log, tune tweak
Drive back to work usually late and not thinking about tuning
Leave work for the day, make a pull, look at log, tune tweak
repeat for the 6 days I work
It adds up pretty quick when you look at it like that. I dont save every version of every map I have done since last year, but I do have the finished version of every mod stage since then. Not counting customer maps, I think I only have 12-13 maps of my own. Of course now most of them are getting swapped over to 3Bar and the knocklite, so I will have double for awhile.

More or less though, Summer/92 octane/S1/750/25psi is done.

. I keep every single iteration too.
