HELP -- no response
Hey guys I am having problems connecting to my ECU with my new laptop....I had been flashing with my old laptop w/o problems and figured as long as I saved my files, there would be no problem.
The error I get when trying to flash is : no response to any known code...The system does not appear to be recognizing the cable.
What do I need to do to get ECUflash to work again??? For some reason I had some weird issues with USB drivers, but I think they cleared themselves up after a reboot. Thanks

It is still not working....it is almost as if the USB drivers are screwed up....very frustrating as I have a new map that I want to test
....
What does no response to any known code really mean -- is the ecuflash id corrupt?

Well, getting the no response to any known code, can be a bad driver install, or just a communication problem with the ECU.
I know you haven't had this problem before, but I see you car is an 06..
First, try putting a battery booster/charger on the car while your trying to read the flash.
If that doesnt work, try using the ECU Unlocker for ECUflash to see if the universal code works.. If neither works, then the problem is likely a driver issue. Also check your white molex connector, the wire connected to it, make sure everything is seated firmly and not loose..

the no response to any known code means that the ECU's "Init Code" is different than the defaults. This can be due to a few reasons, if there is nothing actually wrong, it could be its corrupt, or you flashed a rom with an altered Init Code (something other than 0001)
You can test this is the case by using the unlocker tool with ECUFlash..
The other option is to try using the old laptop again and see if everything works fine, if it does, then its definitely a driver/software problem..

MJ -- You are awesome....It appears it was the unlocker that did the trick...although I don't understand why as the ECU had my flash on it and was not locked (or so I thought)....
What is the unlocker actually doing?
Regardless, how do I send you a thank you present for all of your help (both to me and the evom community)? I think I owe you at least a 6 pack

People frequently confuse the Init code with the Immobilizer code and change the init code not realizing it..
Sometimes its just a typo, or you inadvertantly flashed another rom on the car that had been locked..
No biggie, as long as its fixed..
The unlocker really only allows ECUFlash to use an alternate Init code, in this case the code is the hard-coded "recovery code" used to reflash an ECU that won't respond to any known codes.
