who is using aggressive cams on flash..
we have our project 2.3
35R
JAM block and head..
thinking of throwing some Jun 272's or comparable in..
who is running these successfully on stock ecu??
(just a note... we are using ecuflash now at the shop, did two evo's recently,
on our mustang one made 343whp/340wtq on 93 octane at 24.5 psi... other did 309/302 on 93 at 21.5 psi... stock car does 210/215-ish... i love it)

that's sweet! can't wait to come get a tune from you! i'm assuming the high numbers are on a IX(probrably faust?) and the lower are an VIII? sorry off topic, but what mods? those are pretty impressive for pump on a MD.
340 + whp with a IX on stock turbo with just the basic mods -- TBE, O2, LICP, 25.5 psi peak and 19 psi @7k, and a good tune....That is what I am running and really like how the car feels....
Now back to your question...Smogrunner is running his built car w/ larger turbo and cams with the ECU, as are a bunch of other guys. There is a post on here about max power with stock ECU.....I believe it was somewhere in the 500+ whp range when folks started going to standalones....Also Buschur has some new cams out that are supposedly very nice for your type of setup. Good luck

I'm using HKS280's and have a perfect idle even with a GT35r and 1000cc injectors.. I am running a blowthrough sensor, so I can run nearly any cam on my car..
I've also had similar good results with most of the other cars with cams. The problem is low engine vacuum and low airflow through the MAF.. easy cures..
1) Set idle speed to about 1000rpm (1200 on really radical cams)
2) play with timing slightly, but it shouldn't be necessary unless the engine surges
3) increase spring tension in your DV so it doesn't recirculate as much, then it won't open and close under varying engine vacuum levels and will stabilize idle a bit.
4) Spend as much time as necessary to get your fuel trims at idle and cruise in check, out of range fuel trims are the biggest reason for poor idle quality other than low engine RPM.
If you run a blowthrough MAF with your stock ECU, you can even get more radical cams such as JUN or Revolvers to idle well.

thanks guys!!!
the car that made the 308/302 or whatever (ish) was joe torsella (faust).... the other is another client, that made the monster 340/340...
both were evo ix;s
mustang tech's are here for two days.... they calibrated the dyno today, and our weather correction was off (which was lowering the numbers even more than it should)
our sti jumped about 10whp/15wtq from the readjustment and calibration....
both of the ix's felt good, but the MR was a rocket.
--------------------
im torn between JUN 264's and GSC s2's.... im considering the juns, i have dual springs, ti retainers, and all that jazz...
im hoping to make ~450whp on 93 octane on our dyno with this 2.3 setup, and mid500's on race fuel...
seeing as we made that 340 on a stock turbo ix, i think we can do it (but the 2.3 is an evo8)
ill keep you guys posted.

this open ecu is fantastic, i almost feel wrong tuning, those guys should make a little more....
its been taking about 1.5 hours and 3-4 maps to get the safe final tunes...
. Running my dyno isnt cheap though, lol, 13,650 CFM blow fan, 3 6300 blowers, and a 7500 CFM 220V extraction system.
here is a pic..

cheers

This is OT, but CBRD, how is that JAM built motor holding up. Really looking at these guys hard when it comes time for my build they seem to be top notch. Are you please with their services?
