There are or were 3 RA's here where I live. I cant find any of them anymore (particularly the one that ASKED me to flash the car) and none of them seem to be on this board. I might have a lead on one I can spend sometime with soon, but I only ever see the car when I am at work and dont where it is when I am not working.

Well the fact that people don't boast about many things doesn't mean that don't have the abbility or aren't trying to do something, I am a computer engineer and I am working on this and spent some time getting information from MJ and Dan and many oyher members who are working on this, the fact is that I don't have lots of time to work on this ECU and I've been taking sleep time to research on this, believe me, if MJ who is another engineer I think, and even Colby who has written OpenECU and is an engineer also with lots of experience hasn't been able to do this I don't believe on your idea that getting a simple data sheet would work, that will definitely be a step into this but not the final solution, now if you have something strong to contribute your ideas are welcome and many of us can provide you with lots of other things that we've already found, but don't come here stating that there aren't many people capable or trying to make this possible. Lots of people arguing for crazy ideas will not get anywhere but a little strong focused team working together in the same direction can conquer this and many other obstacles that may arise on the road.

We each know our own limitations thats very clear but this shouldn't be any different than flashing the the other ones we need to start at the processor find the data sheets and have someone build a kernel (just like colby did for the others). I didn't mean to make it sound like it was a 5 minute job but it is very possible to do. I just don't believe that Colby has put very much time into the
4g69 ecu there just isn't a very big tuner market for that product and he's very busy.

I offered an ECU through another member for MJ, since you say you know what you are talking about if I sent you this ECU would you work on it? or are you saying the eclipse you bought has the 4g69 ECU so you will have one already?

Do you have the tactrix cable already, and are you familiar with ECUflash? you haven't listed any credentials as of yet, so I feel it's necessary to prompt you for some so you have some credibility.

you also still haven't said where you can source data sheets for a mitsubishi ECU.

I think the whole problem stems from the boot loader, as MJ has suggested, due to the fact that the Evo mivec ECU was not too dissimilar from the 4g63 and didn't take long to crack. The ECU didn't jump to the next bus system or anything, it's probably just a little different from the others. We need someone who has the tools and knowledge to get the ROM downloaded, I will gladly sift through the image and figure it out from there.

Anyone else who has any input, updates, or secrets they want to share post up!

I have had a cable since they first came out and I was the first eclipse owner to flash my own ecu. My car now runs an evo7 ecu with 9246000 rom. The data sheets can be found at Renesas.com This is the division of Hitachi that makes the ecu's.

awesome, thanks for the website.

do you have a 4g69 ECU? you said 4g eclipse, I assume it has the 4g69? is that direct injection, manual or auto, and would the injection method change the ECU?(your opinion) would you be willing to meet up with me if you don't have access to the ECU? I have been trying forever to get someone to work on this with one of the guys who can figure it out, but no one seems to care that much. I can only offer so much help, but I am willing to test on my car.

the CAN bus isn't used until the H8 series? if that's the case then our ECU isn't H8, it's not CAN

I was wondering if anyone knows if the tatrix data cable was able to read fuel trims (or other live sensor data) from the ECU. And if so what program was used to read it.

john, I have a spare ECU I want to ship to colby. I have gotten a response from him, and am awaiting patiently for the second response, but it's taking awhile because he is busy with other things. Do you think you would be able to dl the ROM image or would I be better of waiting for Colby?

I will ship it to ANYONE that is CONFIDENT they can do something for us, so just shoot me a PM if that's you
