I think you must have a noise.

The only log I was sent that managed a 36 knock count (the maximum by the way) had a bent exhaust valve.

Another phantom knocker appeared to be a valve spring noise.

Your main change is the transmission, could you listen with det cans to try to source a likely noise?

The knock control is disabled at low loads which is why it goes up when you use a bit of throttle.

I do have a mod to disable knock control that I posted before.

You could also log some of the new knock control items... they are listed by Bez Bashni on Aktivematrix, but also evo4mad has put them in v.0.98 of Evoscan - even though the new version won't log you could borrow the xml definition and use the items in 0.97 or Mitsubishilogger.

Yea, maybe try putting it on a lift and putting it in gear and have someone drive it a bit and go around the bottom with a scope up your ear.

I always look at what has changed. Since the only changes were a new tranny then maybe the exhaust downpipe is hitting the t-case after install?

Wait a second, v0.99 wont log knock? hell with that - I have a dedicated knock guage I view for tuning - manditory

Coast down a hill in neutral with engine off to check for noises from shaft, clutch, diffs

Hope you resolve this and it's minor, good luck

The new version won't log anything - just needs bug fixes. With this sort of noise then something like a knocklink would also be useless.

I think it is always better to find and correct your noise, but if you are happy with tuning with det cans and have no other options then just disable the knock control.

I noticed your AFRMAP remained at 128, even though mine is allways off it usually changes once my airflow readings reach 240hz or more.

Just in case, AFRMAP is just the map value read (14.7*128/X), but it should change at at least a TPS value of 30

An old problem related to the transmission was that the tranny made noise and caused false knock counts. Since your transmission was changed, I would look at this as the possible cause. If I remember correctly, the factory specifically made a change to correct it.
