Good point about the sensor phasing. This seems so much more interesting to me than disassembly...I just couldn't force myself to do it enough to make a difference.

Hell, if you post detailed instructions on what parts I need and how to wire this thing up, I will buy a IX ecu and play with this setup. Honestly sound like fun to me

By the way, you could still use MIDI to set correct phasing of two oscillator modules. But once you start needing an equation to set the "position" in time of the dependent wave generator, you're screwed unless you're smarter than me.

The reason I mention the equation stuff is because of MIVEC. But then the ECU controls that...wait I'm confused

The crank and exhaust Cam angle sensor are always in sync because of the timing belt, so its always relative to crank timing. Therefore you can create a counter and not two oscillators, so for every 4th trigger of the crank sensor, you can trigger the signal for the cam sensor to the ECU. (I think thats the right order)

The MIVEC signal if needed is a little more complex, as the MIVEC actuator phases the cam slightly, so you would trigger the MIVEC angle sensor to the ECU similarly, however it would also have some timing in place to trigger whatever time before, or after, the cam angle sensor is triggered. And I think by the physical appearance of the two angle sensors, their set up in such a way that it will always be after the intake cam angle sensor..

Real complex thought with an easy solution eh?

MJ, do you walk on water and heal cancer with your hands?

I don't understand half the crap you're talking about half the time, but you have got to be one of the most important contributors to this board!!! evom is better off than most forums because of what you give back everyday!!!

LOL! My hands can do many things.. But nothing like that.. Keeps my car running and my wife smiling..

Its just that my passion is cars in general, but the Evo responds so well to this stuff that I just can't stop toying with it.

Great, now build yourself a bench harness for a Mitsu 5 connector ECU If only I had the electronics/programming knowledge you do. I'd track down an extra Ralliart ecu and try to figure this stuff out.

I built my setup so I can add new ECU interfaces as needed. Is it a 5 connector setup? I thought it was a 3 connector setup like the IX..

If its the 5 connector setup, its probably a CAN BUS ECU, like the new MIVEC cars such as the 2006 and 2007 Outlander. That would explain why people are having trouble reflashing it.

This actually came up in a conversation that Colby and I were having recently.

Yup, most definitely a 5 connector ECU.

Nice work with the bench tester!Do you have any schematics? I would like to make a simple version so I can flash a ROM out of the car, what do you think are the minimum connections/switches for this?Cheers

No one can provide the schematics? This can't be that difficult but for some reason I can't get mine to boot up!

Thank you but I have that. I have pins here:

12,25,80,82 to 12v
13,26 to ground
Pin 62 is going to K line (pin 7 on tactrix 2.0)
Pin 79 is going to flash connector on Tactrix

What am I missing? Can't get this ECU to read on the bench with ECUFlash.

no relation to the type of cable used? tactrix 1.3 or 2.0?

have you tried reading with evoscan, instead of ecuflash?

did you hook up (-) GND to pins 4 and 5 of the OBDII connector?

is there 12V constant to pin 16 of the OBDII connector?

Sorry, using a Tactrix 2.0
Yes all the connections on the port are connected.
I cannot connect with Evoscan.
Edit: scratch that, I CAN connect with evoscan.
