Quick Question

My friend has installed a turbo that comes with no O2 sensor bung for the O2 sensor that goes in the O2 sensor housing. What will the consequnses of running his stock ECU like this until he gets a chance to install and tune his AEM? Im sure he will pop a CE light, but will he also go into some limp home mode/ possible low octane fuel map? If anyone knows the correct answer without a guess, I sure would like to know.

Thanks,

the car will run off the regular high octane map all the time and will never be able to read if the car needs more or less fuel through the burning process... very bad thing to do... it might still be able to read knock and be able to adjust timing accordingly.. but it also has to do with the fact if it was tuned before.... but i would not drive the car if it was my car...

So your saying the Closed loop fuel trim will be screwed up? I guess the 2nd O2 sensor can't give enough info to the ECU? Does the ECU just average the 2 O2 sensor signals? I wonder? If it only had one to average, I wonder if it would work OK, just not as accurate? This is unchartered territory for me, so we are just trying to decide if it will work OK or not, we have other options. Thanks for the reply.

front 02 sensor is for reading the fuel... the rear 02 is just to see if the cat is working...

Thanks for the info. Hasn't been driven yet.

We will look at other options.
