Idle Stepper Maps?

Anyone have a good link to an explanation of these or can anyone just explain them? What do the numbers mean?

Here is my understanding of them, I'm not sure if this is spot on but its what I think.

The stepper motor controls your ICV (idle control valve). The higher the number in the table the wider the idle valve opens and allows more air into your motor.

There are several table in the ROM for the stepper motor. They reference either RPM and temp or RPM and TPS. Basically the ECU uses these tables to determine what to do with the idle valve first. Then the ECU will adjust the stepper motor accordingly to get the current RPM to be as close as possible to your target idle RPM.

If thats true then that makes perfect sense.

Excuse my ignorance. I am new to the "tuner world". I never had a need to mess with that before, but I recently installed cams so now I have that need.

I wasn't sure how our idle air worked. Wasn't sure if there was a motor on the throttle blade or if we had some sort of bypass solenoid.

The idle stepper table is time based and the x/y axis scales are incorrectly displayed .. The higher the number, the longer it pulses open ..

There are other tables not defined that smoggy is testing right now to cure his idle hang issues ..

Can this table be set up so that it eliminates the P0505 error code?
