Can I share my Evoscan with my 1g DSM

I love evoscan on my evo but i want to use it to replace the data logging on my DSM

I see that you can on the software end but i can not find a clear answer on what 12pin cable i am spose to buy and where it plugs in.

I do know where the old three wire data logger plugs in, is this where the 12pin would go?

Also should i just try the old cable with a serial to usb converter?

I thought i would ask here because i am not getting alot out dsmtuners on it and thought someone would be like me and have both cars.

Maybe i am just slow but this does not give me a clear answer.

I emailed him and he quickly answered my question. I can't get ANYTHING to be recognized by evoscan except the cable I use for my evo. Thus I'm going to just jumper the plus, minus, and data wires over to my 1g. I *think* this is how he wanted me to do it in his reply email. I'll be trying it this weekend. PM me if I forget to update the thread.

I am trying it right now and not getting it to work. I've tried evoscan 2.0 and 0.99. I've tried extending the timeout to as far as 10 seconds. The error I get is:

Info: Initializing At 5 baud...
Info: Initialization Complete...
Info: Waiting for INIT Response...
Error: FTDI Read Timeout
Info: Datalogger Ended.

This is the pinout for your 16pin openport cable.
http://scantool.imechatronics.com/obd_cable_drawing.png

-Pin 7 on the openport goes to data on your dsm.
http://mmcdlogger.sourceforge.net/
-Pin 5 on your openport goes to both pins 10 and 12 on your dsm (jumpering pin 10 to 12 puts the ecu into diagnostics mode).
-Pin 16 on your openport goes to +12v just like on most dsm logger cables. I connected to the fusebox next to the data plug with a spade crimp connector.

According to hamish this works, but is not working on my car.

I should also note that my openport cable is working before and after as I connected to my evo. Also my 1g dsm does log as I can connect with my palm pilot and associated logging cable. I have tried physically grounding pins 10 and 12 to chassis ground to insure a good ground as sometimes this is an issue on some cars (but has never been on mine) due to poor grounding in the connector. Evoscan is defaulting to 1953 baud as it should for logging a 1g dsm. I am clicking "GEN1&2/OBD1/ALD" box in the top left hand corner of evoscan.

I dunno all the vitals are good and I can't come up with anything else.

yeah this sucks there must be some information on how to make it work somewhere.

He says on his site that you just need to by a obd-1 12pin cable. The only one i can find for sale is a GM style one which i don't think is the one i need.

I can not get a email back from evoscan maybe i will try and email again.

I was looking at those cables as well. I don't think evoscan will recognize them so it won't work. I would try using your openport 1.3 cable, maybe your car will work as mine is not.

I don't think so unless your car has been worked on but my ecu has not been messed with so if yours is the same way and it does not work then i don't think mine car would.

I wish evoscan would do a how to on the dsm boards or evom.

I think he would sell some more copies of evoscan.

I've been working with Hamish trying to get my evo cable to log on my 1g DSM. I haven't been successful but it HAS worked for one other person. He is now selling a 1g DSM 12 pin cable that interfaces with evoscan. I've purchased the cable and am awaiting delivery. I'll let you guys know if it works out.
